Leafs and the Ilanders are playing now...no score after 20 minutes. Oh wait 1-0 for the Islanders at 17:49. Oh man. :sad:

2-1 Leafs at 8 minutes left in the first.

Okay, I Tivo'ed the game because I had dinner plans with friends. I got home around 11 and started watching. Things were going well for a while...then the flood gates opened.

The only thing I had going for me was that Tucker didn't score. Once that happened, I retired. Horrible game. I'm ready to trade Janni Ninnima for a bag of pucks and some tape.

We'll get ya when you come to the Island!

I was away for a few days over Christmas, so fortunately I missed the horrific play of my NY Islanders. Prior to leaving NY, I saw them play the Devils. After the whole Toronto fiasco, I was surprised to see the solid play on defense, good forecheck and overall gritty game by the locals. I came back to the "same old Isles". All of this doesn't matter tonight..because we face the arch nemisis NY Rangers. If you have an opportunity to catch the game, there is no better rivalry than NY vs NY.

Nice to read the news about my favorite player Darcy Tucker.

Chris--Looks like your Islanders are going to try enjoying some southern hospitality tonight. Winner gets to contend for that eighth playoff spot! If the Thrashers make the playoffs I may have a few questions about that crazy game. As a Georgia boy I learned to stay indoors in front of the fireplace when there is ice around. Skating on ice is a new concept.

I know... there have been 5-6 times I've left games saying the season is over. After all the trades, I thought for sure we were done. The kids are doing one helluva job. We lost another two vets to injury - both Aaron Asham and Alexi Zhitnik are done for the season. Not to jinx them, but I called up the Islanders to let know my new address -- just in case there are any notices about playoff tix.

Hockey is a fantastic spectator sport - maybe the best. I love baseball, but I'd much rather go to a hockey game vs. baseball.

Get out there and support your Thrashers! There cannot be much ice now in "Hotlanta".

I will not get to the game tonight but I’m following the results. I’ve been to a couple of games to root them on.
As a young lad, back in the days before we had Braves, Falcons, Hawks, and Thrashers and before we had computers and multiple cable channels Atlanta TV would show hockey games on Saturday. I got to watch the Canadians with Maurice Richard, Jean Beliveau, and of course the late Boom Boom Geoffrion. I skipped a few years of hockey before the game return but that was a good introduction.

They had everything going for them. I didn't watch or go to the game. I'm taking my father in law to Saturday's game against you guessed it -- the Atlanta Thrashers. You've got a good young team and a nice mix of veterans. I could only wish we had a player like Hossa.

After last night, we're both a little closer!
