Default Need some help w/networking...

Hey there!
Any networking gurus out there? I need some help getting some devices to connect to my home network wirelessly (an area where I can't pull a cat5) and I can't figure out what device I need to get to make this happen.

Thanks,

Greg

First you'll need to get a wireless access point (if you have a router) or a wireless router w/ a built in switch. Then you'll have to get a wireless network card for the computers you are going to use on the wireless network.

Well I have all of that already.
Basically what I am trying to accomplish is that I have 3-4 devices in my entertainment center that I need to connect to my network. I have a switch in place there but do not have the ability to hard wire from the living room to the office where my wireless router is.
Is there a way to connect the switch via an access point to the wireless router in my office?

I'm not sure I'd be able to help. On this topic, if you use iTunes to play your music and you're looking to stream music from your PC, then I'd recommend getting AirPort Express. I have AirPort Express plugged in next to my audio system. I have it hard wired to my router. This allows it be seen from all the laptops and my Mac. From any computer, you can select "Living Room", which will stream music to the main system. I wired A and B speaker systems allowing me to then switch from Living Room to my backyard speakers. In the end, I'm able to listen to my iTunes in the main living room or outside.

Hope you find an answer...you could check out AVSForum.com.

You can purchase a wireless bridge which accomplishes that. It should be compatible with your access point if they're the same brand. Makes things easier sometimes.

Yeah I did some more research last night and figured that a wireless bridge is what I probably need. I suppose that there is a way to connect that to a switch @ the entertainment center where I need to connect my devices. From that point the wireless bridge would connect wirelessly to my main wireless router?
I'm on a dlink network so I want to keep it that way if possible.
