An unfortunate event
Hello everyone,
Last Tuesday I walked out of the Sprint store with my new pre and I loved it. After 4 days of use I was in a Jack in the Box and I dropped it while putting it in my pocket on to smooth tile. No more than 3 feet up. There was only a very minor nick on the side but it broke something internally and I wasn't able to use the touch screen anymore.
The sprint store said they would replace it but its still sold out so I gotta wait for a shipment and since they aren't making money off me I'm sure I'm their lease priority. Anyway I feel lost without it because in those few days its changed the way I use a phone.
Related to this story but will be in the other section as well. What is the best way to protect the phone besides not dropping it of course. I've ordered a screen protector but that wouldn't have done anything. I see those rubberized cases but most of them cover the gesture area and I can't see those fitting too well with the unique body design.
Anyway my first impressions of the pre are that I still love it but I'm nervous about how fragile it is.
Thanks

Use the pouch that came with the phone when you put it in your pocket.. I love it and it keeps the phone safe from drops and scratches

Thats good for some of the time.
Thats good for some of the time but 90% of the time when its out of my pocket its open and I'm typing on it. And that pouch is a little too cheesy for me.

I have grown quite fond of the little pouch. It stays between my hand and the pre at all times, and next to the stone when charging. I don't know who the design genius was, but it really has a non-skid factor to it that makes it less droppable (is that a word). When on the console of my car, it keeps my Pre from sliding around and getting scratched up and the phone inside the pouch fits nicely in the cell-pocket of my purse. Sorta has just become habit now to have my pre either in it, or sitting on top of it. The pouch is like a part of the phone, and aside from my little incident of dropping it out of the pouch and into the sand, and worked very well.

The pouch is my best friend. I always keep it on while in my pocket to avoid scratches. When it rests on my desk I have the pouch under the phone as well.
As for when you pull it out of the pouch just be careful. Most of my work is done while the phone is resting on my desk. The only time it can drop is when I am standing and on the phone which I am usually careful doing.
It's (the pouch) one of the best options we have until real cases are made for the Pre.

thanks for the input
I just don't like having to fear standing up and holding it while typing. I work in an office and I like to walk around the building and check out the news. Hopefully a good solution is sold soon.

I like the pouch too but, I am going out today to see if I can find a holster or case for my Pre. At times it's a pain to pull the phone out of my pocket and then the pouch when trying to answer the phone.

One of the Golla ones on the store site is toooooooooo cute!

I loved my pouch for one whole day! That was until I got a full body protector from Zagg (otherwise known as the Invisible shield). I found that with my new slightly rubberized protective coating that putting it in the pouch and removing it became an annoying pain in my @$$. Does anyone else feel the same? The pouch is simple, attractive (IMO), and obviously protective, but couldn't they have engineered the interior of it a little more? Like line it with that material that they make sunglass cases out of so it slides easier AND cleans the screen? Maybe even a magnetic flip lock? Both the Samsung Instinct and the Touch Pro had well thought out "stock" cases. Oh well, I'm sorry for your tragedy. I feel your pain, I destroyed my Pro by droping it (off the top of my car at high speed.....)

thanks
I'll be sure to check that one out.
