News: Palm Pre Spotted In Verizon Inventory Database

A tipster revealed screenshots from Verizon’s Inventory database and it certainly appears to us that the Palm Pre is on it’s way to Verizon. The database shows two devices codenamed P101 and P121. The Sprint roadmap had used codename P100, so it’s plausible that the P101 is Verizon’s Palm Pre.

Hehe.. notice the model number is slightly different.. looks like Verizon has a gimped version coming! Can't wait to see how they cripple it.. let's get some Pre-dicitons going on what they're going to rip out of it.

I'm going to say :

- Storage cut from 8gb to at least 4gb (possibly 2gb)
- GPS gimped to only support VZ Navigator (available for extra monthly service fee)
- App Catalog removed - VZ's own "app store" inserted instead

I want to say the RAM will be reduced from 256mb to 128mb or 96mb, but I'm hesitant since that would seriously impact the multitasking capabilities of the Pre.. but then again, VZW LOVES gimping the RAM on HTC phones.... hmmmm

They'll gimp the WiFi, too. And they'll also replace WebOS with BREW.

I hope they put out something pretty soon. My treo 650 is holding in there but I need a new Pre and the wife insists on Verizon. If they get it in I'll be one of your first to report in on it.:dft010:smile

I would be willing to bet that Verizon will not allow you to drag and drop ringtones via USB.
