News: Verizon Might Not See Boost With Palm Pre
An interesting online research study was conducted by Compete.com whereby the measured wireless customers who were shopping around for devices that were not available with their carrier. Those with 10 pageviews or more at competitive wireless carriers were dubbed “pre-churners”. The name has no direct correlation to the Pre, as a Verizon customer shopping for an iPhone 3GS could also be considered a pre-churner. Essentially, it’s a Verizon customer who is spending a significant amount of time on a competiting carriers website and might switch based upon device.

My opinion > Verizon gets the Pre, they sell like hot cakes. Verizon would do a great job promoting the Palm Pre. I think Now Network ads overshadow the Pre. Sprint should be running Pre focused ads that back up to the Now Network. Not the other way around.

I agree - at least their ads are sensible.

I like the Sprint commercials..
Not a fan of the geek and the 'dead zone' commercials.

I really think it depends on WHEN they launch it. If it launched today, I would say it would sell like gangbusters simply because VZW's selection of smartphones is extremely outdated right now. If they launch several new quality devices (BB Tour, HTC TouchPro2, and an Android device) BEFORE they launch the Pre, I don't think it'll be nearly the splash it could be. People I know who have VZ and want new phones are clamoring for something and they want it yesterday. The first high-profile smartphone VZ launches is going to score.. the race is on.

I can say that Verizon desperately needs the Pre. It will sell very well if they add it soon.

Sprint should be doing ads for the Pre like those of Bell

IMHO economy turndown still affecting some companies and banks

I just had a friend who switched to VZW who would have no doubt gotten the Pre, provided it was available. Instead he got the storm and still plays with my Pre more than his phone!
