Lightbulb PALM PRE BATTERY ISSUES (please help!!)

I was at work today casually sending text messages, checking my email and on facebook with my palm pre(no other programs running like wi-fi, aim, etc..).

My phone was at about 50% battery power when I pressed the power button to turn off the display(for the sake of saving battery life) to ring up a customer.

The next thing I know, I reach into my pocket having not recieved an expected message and my phone was completely dead. I could not turn it on! I pressed the power button many times then tried holding it down for about ten seconds and nothing. I opened it and took out the battery and placed it all back together and still nothing!! I did not try any other restarting techniques. I spent the entire 6hrs remaining of my shift without my phone working.

I got home and plugged it up and it came on after the usual palm loading screen with 50% battery power!!!!! Can anyone please tell me what happened? Do I need a new palm pre?

interesting. I have no idea. One thing I have noticed is that sometimes they battery display will show more battery than what it actually is. The battery icon doesn't update with the drained battery unless you press on the icon or time at the top of the screen to access your options (wifi, bluetooth, airplane mode). Once you bring down the menu to actually read "Battery: --%" then the icon on the top right will refresh.

It's especially noticeable when I'm on youtube or listening to music and I go from 100% to about 85%. The battery on the top right will stay green the entire time, until I refresh it by bringing down the menu.

how is the signal where you were at? If there is no or little signal the battery goes dead rather quickly.

Wonder if you've got a loose battery. Sounds like a similar thing to ye auld "my phone shuts off when I slide the keyboard closed".. could be that the battery lost it's connection very briefly causing the phone to shut down improperly. That could explain the not booting back up.. I've read elsewhere that when the phone is improperly shut down sometimes the only way to get it to come back is to have it plugged in.

    All speculation though.
