Palm Pre doesnt ring / ringer not working

Hi All,
Anyone else have a problem with your pre not ringing when a call comes in, and/or txt message or email's come in? I just called Sprint Tech support and they told me this is a reoccuring problem and that a hard reset (bye bye pictures, etc.) is required. If that does not fix a phone exhcange will be required.

Even when I go to the, "Sounds and Ringtones" icon and click the play button on my ringtones they show they are playing but no sound. Music plays just fine. I first noticed the problem when I set my phone to vibrate for church and then turned the sound back on. Hope this helps if you are having the same issue.

Evidently Palm is on-site with Sprint Customer Service and knows about the issue and there is no fix. They did not fix my problem but customer service was freindly and efficient at diagnosing the problem. Much better expericence then I have had in the past. Good Job Sprint!!!

Are you sure that the switch is not flipped on the top of the phone? I'm sure you've checked it, but that is the first thing I would look at.

Yeah check the ringer switch at the top of the phone and then turn your volume up and that should take care of it. If your text messaged arent ringing either go into sounds and make sure the system sounds are on also. If that doesnt take care of it do a soft reset by pressing the OJ, sym and R buttons simultaneously.

The Sprint guy must not know much about the phone, that should have been the first thing he suggested.

I also had a similar problem. My pre would make sounds and play music, but it would not show calls coming in. I called my phone from a friends phone and saw this happen. Tech support performed a hard reset on my phone, and it has not happened again since. And Yes, I had the switch in the right position, haha.

There are two sections under Sounds and Ringtones, one for Ringtone Volume, the other for System Sounds. Adjusting System Sounds volume will affect email, texts, and basically everything else except rings.

As far as I'm aware, there's no way to adjust the sound played for incoming messages at this time. Hopefully a future update allows for this.

Hey, I have this weird problem. Before I did a semi-hard reset (I couldn't upgrade my phone to 1.0.3), my alarm would ring even when the phone was on vibrate. However, now when I leave it on vibrate, it doesn't ring or do anything?

I know this might not be the best thread but I was wondering what the issue is.

and I am a dummy, should have done a forum search first. My system sound volume was all the way down (randomly)
