Pre Calendar Alarm Sound is a Toy, Not a Tool

Calendar Alarm sound on the Pre is incredibly quiet and brief, causing missed appointments. This is unacceptable.

Palm failed to write the code for a Calendar alarm sound other than a quick ding-ding-ding-ding hoping someone else would write an app to fix their failure. No one's fixed this failure, including Palm.

Carry your Pre in a purse, pocket or holster? Too bad; you won't hear it. Anyone talking when your calendar alarm goes off? Good luck. Listening to the TV or radio? You lose. Step away for a minute? You're toast.

You can have no other Calendar alarm sound, period. No way to make the "ding" repeat or even last longer. No way to make it any louder. No MP3 clips (what were they thinking?!). No reminder if you missed it. No, no, no, no, and no.

Worse yet, when you don't hear it (and miss your meeting), any Alarm Clock alarms you've set won't make any sound at all. WHOA!! Calendar Alarm Fail plus Alarm Clock Fail. Bonus! Make that no, no, no, no, no, and no.

Pre? No.

Lots of other folks have posted a laundry list of complaints about the Pre Calendar; too slow, can't move to other dates unless you already know that date(!), poor views, etc. But this one's a deal-breaker. A show-stopper. A critical failure. A Communication Breakdown.

All other Palm products work for business people. Not this one. Use a Pre to tell you of upcoming appointments and you'll be whining, "Sorry I missed the meeting. My calendar alarm is so quiet, I didn't hear it."

Next, you can expect to hear, "You're fired. And stop putting your calendar on a toy." :dft004:cry

Once you find a new job, give the Pre to the kids.

I've never missed a calendar alert, but it should be customizable. You should go ahead and post this on Palm forums.
