Hi everyone,

We're really excited about the Palm Pre and, in particular, the opportunity to write some apps in a language much less esoteric that Objective C.

Three of us (@dancrumb, @whurley and @giovanni) are setting up DevCamps around the world, to coincide with the release of the SDK... whenever that may be!. We're not affiliated with anyone, and we're doing this totally non-profit. We're just excited to get a-coding!

We have over 400 people signed up in over 50 cities worldwide, but we're looking for more.

In particular, we're looking for some cities in Australia... I just can't believe that there are no developers in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth or Adelaide who aren't interested in this new platform. (No intention to snub other cities... step up and show me up if I skipped you).

We're looking for people to sign up to attend DevCamps, and some intrepid souls to actually organize the local events. We'll provide all the support and expertise you need... you provide the local ears, eyes and legs to set things up.

I really like the initiative you guys are doing, and recommended to my network that they join up for their respective cities. The Pre needs its developers to really get moving to steal marketshare from apple, and you guys are really setting the bar! good to see it.

Since I first made that post, we've picked up 200 more participants and 16 more cities... all without a release date from Palm for the Pre!

We even got a shout out from Mitch Allen during his presentation of webOS!

I'm very excited about this and hope we get even more people... we're gunning for 1000 people at the moment; we're over half way there
