Restoring Exchange Information
One thing that has prevented the company I work for from approving the Palm Pre as a certified mobile device is the fact that Palm allows you to backup/restore the profile on the device. I have taken it upon myself to research this subject a little more.
I am curious if anyone knows after a Palm Pre has been wiped, if the Palm software can restore the stored Exchange information. This is the number one security concern for me right now. Does anything have any thoughts?

I don't know about Exchange, but I had to have Palm send me a re-furbished PRE after my first one died. The first time I logged onto Pandora, it signed me on as the previous owner.

That sounds just plain sloppy. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

I still haven't heard much from the community on the subject of Microsoft Exchange and if it can be restored onto a Pre. Anyone have experience with this?

Here is the real answer

The pre being Linux based, config files are stored in certain locations throughout the file system, foremost the /etc and /var paths. By using the default restore feature will not re-install Linux, which is notorious for saving config files because they are so hard and time consuming to make. The restore simply restores the WebOS portion of the phone, NOT the Linux portion. You need a complete re-install to eliminate all data saved. I am working on several video tutorials to assist with many of these functions but I simply cannot get to them...LoL

Really what I am concerned about is remotely wiping a Pre that is attached to an Exchange server and then being able to restore that information. We definitely do not want that ability in case of employee terminations, etc.
