I think a lot of people who have an iphone are looking at this the wrong way. The Pre in my eyes is the first legitimate competition to the iphone. You guys should hope the Pre does well. If it does more preasure will be put on apple to add more features. Especially those that make the Pre a better device (multitasking and such). As owners of the Pre we should give apple a little credit too though, without the iphone us Pre owners wouldn't be able to enjoy our superior device :laugh3:

    god.. not this.

the battery is not so bad on this phone.. its the same as my centro or any other device. i leave in the morning and its 100% and it lasts me till i lay down to bed at night.. unless you are a meth adict and don't rest your head each day to sleep you have no issues. it charges while you sleep and thats all you need from a battery..

yes, multitasking does destroy anything the iphone can do, and its fun watching you guys squirm in your seats when you see it. its so effecient and works flawlessly. my gf has an iphone and when i hold it and use it, it feels so outdated only after using the pre for a week. i praised the iphone to the high heavens for 2 years, but it is finally over, the pre is just a better device. you can't come to the forums anymore and just "say not an iphone ahahha"

Hold up people, why isnt the Iphone comparing to RIM(BOLD)? just cause Bold is not touchscreen, not right. The real truth is that Iphone couldnt make in the Business world, so they made there own space in the market. Iphone users like to pick on weaker phone and right now Pre is weaker then Iphone, only in the OS(lack of updates, NOT for long) and has more bugs(work in progress.) Why Iphone users picking on the Pre cause they are affraid of the Pre's growth and it will catch up to the Iphone, Iphone users quickly forget when the first Iphone came and how many bugs they had, and it took APPLE 2+ yrs just to come out with simple function(copy & paste)<--LMAO.
Poeple who purchase Iphone only get it for the 50k+ APPS, not for the speed of it or usage of it, just APPS. APPS are cool but not everything, no multi tasking even in there new 3G S. If you like to play games and listen to music, then by all means get the Iphone<-For now. If you want to get work done ger RIM and soon to be Pre, Pre will capture or try to capture both worlds(Biz / Consumer), I see that no one says that APPLE got its ASS KICKED by RIM in the Business world, why no Iphone user brings this up? You guys embarrassed? You apple junkies are funny people, always picking on new kid (Pre) on the block, go pick fight with RIM and see how far you get. But for now you can pick on the Pre but not for long. I am not saying that Pre will be Iphone killer but it will come up and be on even playing but it wont be a Iphone killer, just like there is no RIM killer. It makes for a fun debate but thats about it.

its just funny to see these fanboys thinking the "its not an iphone" approach is working still. WAKE UP this phone is better, i used to own an iphone, my gf still does and she admits its amazing and better. its just a better phone.

heres a challenge to an iphone user: use a pre for 2 weeks, and go back to that brick you call an iphone. you won't be able to.

i pick my gf's iphone and right away try back swipe, then i have to search the screen for a back/close button. its aggrovating. then i want to multitask and i just get aggrovated and put it down. the iphone is archaic.

thats my point.. after using a pre, and utilizing the navigation and the multi-tasking the iphone feels so old and outdated. this guy thinks multitaksing is not a big deal, but its so powerful. thats why apple is getting so worried. this phone makes the iphone look old, its the first phone to everything the iphone does, plus added multitasking.

I think that people have different likes and dislikes.

Its when they try to shove their likes down your throat that its a problem.

    Hi all,
I am new here, actually not that new since I have been reading this forum intensively for the past month. I don't own a Pre, nor do i own an Iphone. I have been on Treo's for the past 4 years (650, Centro) and supports (I say support, I am not a fanboy  ) Palm in general. I had been waiting for a new phone and the Pre came. I have to wait December to be elligible for a new phone, so i'll wait for the Pre. I don't "hate" the Iphone, it's probably one of the best phone on the market, but there is no way in the world I'd move to ATT, so I won't give it a try (except for using my friend's iphones). Also, I really hope Palm will revive and I am ready to support them. I have used the Pre a little bit, about an hour in a store, and I think I like it, very much.
Anyway, back to the original topic. I usually don't post to argue on opinions like those mentionned by the OP, but I must say, this time, I have too. I thought the Op was making too many assumptions with no sense and was obviously very biased. I actually wondered reading his post if he worked for Apple.

    Just a few example:

This needs to be verified. I have read every single review comparing both phones online and none of the phone stands up. They BOTH sucks the battery very fast under heavy use. See this post on everythingcafe for example.

LOL, let's be serious, this depends so much on your provider. I am on Sprint and never had an issue. Their 3g network proved to be one of the best in the US. Some Pre may have reception issues, but this will get fixed. Also, I can find you so many examples of the Iphone dropping calls, or taking longer to load web pages.

I don't know about that, from the reviews I have read, they are both similar, sometimes the Pre wins, sometimes the Iphone does.

I will agree here if you compare to an Iphone, but it is not that bad.

At. All. Why should this be so important to me? It's cool, yes, but never, not once, do I long for multitasking, and never do I feel like I am somehow "missing out" because my iPhone can't do it. So you can put that one to rest.
You answered this one by yourself: you like longer battery life over multitasking and you don't have the need to multitask. The fact is that people who like the Pre, like multitasking even if it draws the battery faster. Your point was very subjective. Phone's tend to become small computers. If you ask which computer I want between the one that multitask and the one that doesn't, you know my answer. No need to bring this as an argument, it is a personal choice.

Again, there is no argument here. We all know that Palm has had thousands of Apps for their Treos, when the first Iphone launches, we could have made the same argument that it had no apps compared to the Treos. I believe Palm will do well on Apps (and they have to, to be successful), so time will tell, but making such argument is ridiculous.

Lol, what an argument. Let me re-formulate: "Have you owned a Pre? No, I'd be willing to bet. I you had, you would have give up your Iphone" By the way, there is an interesting post on everythingcafe about the experience of a couple iphone users who also bought a Pre, very interesting, and I am sure they are not biased.

Finally, I must say that I don't see the Pre as an Iphone killer. Nothing can kill it but Apple. The Pre is just another good option between Blackberry and Iphone. I know that when I buy a Pre I will miss 50000 apps the Iphone has but will get multitasking. Multitasking comes first for me, I usually buy few apps. This is a personal choice.
I am still wondering why you posted your thought the way you did: troll, apple marketing staff, frustrated iphone user..... If none of those apply, I apologize,.

Yesterday i saw that video about Android, I am more worried about Android than the Iphone to tell you the truth. I Think Palm delivered a great product and I hope they'll keep working on it actively. So far so good. And I am looking forward to get a Pre asap.

First the app whaa whaaaing iphone had 0 apps at launch yes 0.... aeveryone at my job has an iphone all of them have ad to replace it at least once.. Licht leakage, dead pixels, stress cracks around the headphone jack... All types of issues so please don't act like the iphone is thi superbuild of a phone when it has had more issues then most... Which is expexted with new phones even though they charge the crap out of us ( the hampster testers ) who like new phones first.. For everyday light use the pre is the beast for playing tiger woods and other games the iphone is the monster they both see the web send texts and last but not least actually make phone calls.... Yes they are actually used to talk on ... Wow but pick your posin I know ill be sling boxing soon while texting and taking pics... I like the pre

i agree with you. however in this state, it really isnt. multitasking is not something you "dont like", think about the pc.. do you think anyone would prefer using 1 program at a time? lol c'mon, in 2 years everyone will have multitasking and we can pick who does it better, but when only 1 phone has it now, pre, its dominant.

so my point is, the pre does EVERYTHING the iphone does and has multitasking, so there is no way around it.
