Default Sorry guys -- after 10 years I have Left Palm for the Evo

I couldn't wait for the Pre to come out. I bought it right away and had to return it to Sprint because it just wasn't as easy and user friendly as my trust worthy 755p. I couldn't wait much longer for Palm so I broke down and bought the Evo. Although, I still long for the ease of the Treo organizer, I'm enjoying the Evo and using companionlink for transferring my 10 years of palm data. If Palm ever gets its act together I would consider going back -- but for now it's goodbye to a long love affair with Palm.

Me too. I was first in line here in my area to get the Pre. I waited from Midnight until the store opened and got two of them. One for me and one for my Oldest Son. We have both switched to the EVO.
I switched because I could no longer wait for Voice Command. While the EVO has it, it wont work with Bluetooth until the latest release of the O.S. code named "Froyo" which is currently in beta. Once I get that release I will be in hog heaven, with the 4.3" screen and Voice Command, wow.
The only thing I will miss is the "page views", but this phone has something similar.

My son switched because of two things. First the Voice to text and text to voice, where he can speak and send a text message, and have a text message spoke back to him on the receiving end. And second, the bigger screen.

Sorry Palm and HP, but I waited as long as I could for Voice Command.

Could you guys verify something for me? I heard that the Evo means an automatic $10 a month increase (even if you have an unlimited plan), I also heard the increase was $30 and now just heard the increase is really $40. Did your plan increase and if so how much? Thanks!

Sorry to see you leave everythingpre. I do hope you are enjoying your EVO's and invite you to check out everythingAndroid.org. If you hit up the homepage, you can download the beta of our app for free. There's a link on the right side of the page.

Default It is 10 doallars not thirty.

The $10.00 is for the 4G speed, and the $30.00 is for the multi-teathering feature if you start using it, or at least that is my understanding.

Thanks - appreciate the link and info. If these smart phone prices continue to climb like that I think I may revert to an iTouch and an el cheapo phone for just phone calls.

couple of questions for the switchers: 1) how is the battery life compared to the Pre? and 2) was it hard to adapt to a non-WebOS?

Like others, I've had my Pre since launch day. There is a very good chance I will upgrade to an EVO tomorrow. I'm just itching for something new, and the EVO is just so darn appealing. We also have a very good 4G build-out here in Chicago. The only thing that concerns me is that the phone is a bit on the large side. Next to the Pre, the thing is simply huge. Do you guys that have switched find the Evo to be unwieldy?
