Rating or Review Apps You'd Like To See Ported To webOS

The Palm OS has been around for years and everyone has their favorite apps. We know there is no support for backwards compatibility, so the next best thing will be to have your favorite app ported over to webOS.

So, what say you? What apps do you want to see ported over to webOS?

I'll start with just a few...

    1. SplashID
    2. SlingPlayer
    3. Bejeweled

I am currently on a treo 755p, but really like the style/format of the new pre... I don't know if it will fit my needs, though, and may have to resort to the treo pro as my next upgrade. reason is a heavy use of microsoft word, excell, powerpoint and pdf's. I've been very happy with docs to go, but haven't seen anywhere that they would be making a pre version. I would like to see some app available to the pre where I can continue my work with word, excell, powerpoint, and pdf's....

    that's my list...

They may not have made an announcement but I would highly surprized if DVZ was not getting a DTG version for webos ready. They have all the other bases covred they are not going to bypass the revenue stream of pres that sprint is talking about selling. No way.

I agree with you on the DTG area. I for one use both DTG Sheet and Pocket Excel at the same time, as it is nice having 2 spread sheets open at the same time.

What would be nice is an application similar to 2Day by SHSH, TakePhone by SHSH and Datebook by Pimlico Software and of course, ChatterEmail by Mark.

Firstly I hope that we will get a European or Asian Pre soon. Secondly I hope that Michael Love at Pleco Software will find the energy to port the Plecodict to webOS. Plecodict is a very powerful Chinese-English-Chinese dictionary software that I use daily e.g. to write SMS's in Chinese.
Happy New Year of the Ox and greetings from Shanghai.

HI hannuh 2008 In case Palm webos developers donŽt make your Plecodict you could have other possibles options maybe like. COLLINS , BEIKS , MSDICT OR SLOVO I think they have dictionaries in chinese-english-chinese now I donŽt know if they will make it for the new Palm webOS I suggest to check in time to time to them

I'm not sure how many apps will actually get ported to the Pre (this is one of those few areas where I know as much as an entire industry yay!), but I found an older article over at LinuxJournal.com wherein they relayed a developer's experience:
According to Palm executives, the company will permit third-party emulation for older applications, but won't be providing it itself, as they expect new offerings to eclipse the need for older apps. Palm Product Management VP Pam Deziel is quoted as saying on the subject: "We're figuring on having developers do great applications."

That may not be too far off the mark, if the reports making the rounds are to be believed. The Chief Technology Officer at Pandora reportedly told CNET that their Pre application was developed in three days, a 30-fold decrease over the time spent developing their iPhone offering. If that proves the norm among turnaround times, developers may well find that emulating older applications takes longer than coding a fresh one from scratch.
So it seems to me that the sky really should be the limit wrto apps on the Pre - not just porting but coding new concepts as well.

    Best,
    .
