We all have payed for apps and upgrades
I bought my Treo 680 unlocked 21th April 2007 and I was wondering how much I have payed at this time in total:
Treo 680 unlocked $410.-(Wester Union service included)
Upgrade Docs to Go v11 $30.-
Upgrade Pocket Tunes v4.07 $20.-
Beiks Dict French and Italian $30.-($15 each)
Audio Gateway $15.-
Power One Finance $60.-
Colllins English_Spanish Dict $15.-
GRAND TOTAL: $580.-in 7 apps $170. Average per app $25 each (rounded)
Yes a $4.99 per app will be a great price But it depends on what app we are talking to. As you see there are a great range of softwares, some of them are for Work like Docs to Go, others are Dictionaries, and Full Financial calculators, so prices will vary
Maybe Apple is selling $0.99 apps that we have for free like Minitones, Treobble, Adobe Reader,Google Maps,Wordbook, Chem table, Forecast , Open Chess, PDA Money etc or similar. I havenīt visit their store software site at all, might be wrong in this appreciation subject.

Akitayo,
I am iPhone 3g user as well as a Treo 650 user and would appreciate you taking a look at the iTunes store apps. and giving us your feed back. Some are very sophisticated some are not, many are free, some at 99 cents and others go for much more. I also have the Treo 650. The iPhone is great on the non business side and getting better on the business side but doesn't yet really compete in that arena. You have to 'jailbreak' it to get apps that make it far more productive on the business side. Apple will not sit by and let the Pre sweep in but will either upgrade the 3g or introduce a new model. I will probably get the Pre for the purely business side. Competition is great.

My first navigation at iphone store web page
glsda
OK I have been at iphone store APPS for first time and after navigating Business and Finance I found the following:
Analyzed First page of business apps: 20 apps
Prices: 5 apps $0,99 each, 6 $1,99 each, 2 $2,99 each, 2 $1,99each,
1 $5,99, 1 $6,99, 1 $8,99,(My eyes only) I donīt like the task Financial account everywhere, and 2 Free. Average in price $ 4,66
I think you have to navigate a lot to select the proper app for anyone needs.
Appreciation:
The list price display page is sorted for a pick up buyer of differents levels and needs.(This is marketing strategy)
Not all low priced apps are useful, as well as the free ones.
Most expensive donīt deserve the price and some are not useful or are for fun.
In another page the most expensive one $24,99 IP Vision Pro. For me it is not an useful app "seeing like a camera does"??
What are a good useful service apps:
Macalc Pro $9,99G, Bearsoft $9,99, Readble Docs $9,99, Spreadsheet $5,99, PDF+ $2,99, Checkbook $1,99G, Free Savysoda The G after the price means GREAT for me, but just reading the text detailed service.
DataViz Docs to Go is not yet with them and in their web still just register emails address But for Blackberry Storm is quoted $69,99 and for Palm Pro $29,99

Interesting! Most all of that stuff came with my Treo 600/650 [upgrade purchase for full capability or sync function in some cases], but $29.99 for DataViz? I think that's a little high; But, then again, If I want to make Power-Point style presentations for work - I'm making $$$ with it, and can write it off! So . . . thanks for the info . . . supports all of us that agree with NO PRICE FIXING by the arrogant

You are welcome and Yes we have all those apps included in our Treos when we purchased it.

I think Palm will have a hard time selling anything in their app store that is significantly less in the Apple App Store. Plus, you would see it happen a lot in the Apple app store where multiple developers would create similar apps, then undercut one another on price, leading to cheap or free apps. Like someone above said, competition is great.
When I had my iPhone 3g, I rarely bought any apps, I mostly just used ones that were free. I'm not a business user though, so that may have something to do with it.

Apps v. widgets
Add me to the list of those willing to pay more for apps with muscle. I had an iPhone for one day. All the apps were more like widgets and there weren't any for Docs to Go and other business apps. I took it back and recovered my treo. I read there is no desktop sync program which is a big must-have for me. I did hear later that there will be third-party version. My fear is that Palm is making this device just to draw the iPhone crowd and may leave the longtime Palm loyalists behind. Is it too much to ask for it all? And, no, Windows Mobile is not an option.
