I used to be a WINMO guy and I probably would have gone on to the touchpro, but like I said their phones never really appealed to me.
Joe, I'm a little crazy that way, Just not a big fan of the bulky phones, yes they have gotten better with the size especially the hero, but no thanks...

I jumped 2 wks ago.. Hero is a winner. Even the vkb w-predictive txt works great. Pre goes up on ebay as soon as I receive my rebates.

aplusmiami please explain why you took the jump and what are pros and cons in your opinion of both phones.
Pre so easy to use even a caveman can use it.

Let me try... Honestly
This is what I like about the Pre:
- Gestures
- Fast MOST cases
- Simple layout easy to use
- Keyboard
- Facebook and Gmail Integration
- cloud backup
This is what I HATE about it:
- Email APP S U C K S just plain horrible compared to other phones.
- Slider is CHEAP. Feels like it could fall apart any minute.
- USB cover broke the 1st day of use and on all subsequent phones within days
- USB on the side instead of bottom.. Not very user friend when driving when plugged into adaptor
- No memory expansion
- Not enough sounds customability
- No predictive text
- No Voice Dial
- Build Quatilty SUCKS - My 4th Pre. (My friend has gone through 2, another friend had 2 with the Bad LCD, Another friend has the loose battery reboot problem)
- Copy and Paste Completely SUCKS horrible a step backwards from the Palm days in my opinion.
- Touchstone wigs out occasionally until you hit the sweetspot.
- Screen scrathces VERY easy.
- No calls if you are using it in USB mode.. huh? I can't figure this one out at all!
- If by chance your battery runs down.. You gotta wait almost 5 minutes before the phone will start to boot.
- Slow boot
- APP catalog ahhh full of software that is not ready for prime time...
- Phone app S U C K S! come on I have to slide out the dam keyboard to type a persons name?? what happened to 1 =ABC 2=DEF etc etc.. Also Very Slow in general
- No Cam
- No native desktop Sync
- No outlook Sync
This is what I like about the Hero
- So far the interface is Excellent, fluid and Very EASY to use and VERY customizeable from ringers to alert sounds.
- No Lag... in phone app and maybe a lil slower in web browser MAYBE!
- All the widgets and apps start up MUCH faster than the Pre
- APP catalog... Forget about it, no comparison. Hero wins hands down.
- flexable desktops...
- Sprint Nav MUCH faster
- Predictive text (I was a Keyboard guy... but I am quickly starting to love the VKB with predictive text)
- Brushed aluminum features
- Build quality.. No comparison... Hero wins in all areas.
- Cam!!!!
- Desktop Sync Sync Sync Sync!!!... Come on Palm I can not believe I can not Synce my outlook without an app for that!
- Battery life is pretty much the same maybe a lil better than the Pre. I can not give a fair comparision there because I use the Pre more (For now)
- Email App - forget about it... Blows Pre away!
- Facebook updates inside of contacts - scrolls across list view of each contact... Pretty neat!
Things I hate...
- I don't trust google... There is something evil lurking there.
- I miss my Hardware keyboard.. This phone with a keyboard would KILL iPhone, Pre and any other smartphone on the Market.....
I am not blaming this point on the Pre maybe the way the radio works with Sprint but my reception with the Hero is MUCH better in Fringe service locations.

Thanks man for that honest opinion, maybe you should look in to Samsung Moment. It has hard keyboard.
Pre so easy to use even a caveman can use it.

Just looked at the Moment being unboxed on Egadget. I'm liking that phone alot. Not having a keyboard and numerous reviews talking about the sluggish features of the Hero killed it for me. I getting the Moment for my wife. So I porrably wont get it. I think I may actully hold out til the New Year with my Pre.

Shaun0207 my wife has the Hero and there is no slugishness at all, i honestly dont know what people are talking about.

I actually went to the Sprint store Saturday and tried it for myself. It did move pretty fast. But I would still want a keyboard.

Hard keyboard does become a factor for some people, thats why my wife is waiting to get the Samsung Moment, but i like the Hero but the Pre has more freedom in its webOS. The only reason i am going to Hero is cause the build of the Hero, tha Apps & Games. The syncing is easier and well better made, the chat is easier to do, but the virtual keybaord has its problems for some. The SD card is a huge plus, what bothers me the most is the lack that Palm put in to the simple things, like customization of ringtones, and other things. I dont see why guys at precentral.net have to cover up Palms errors, instead those guy should be making apps and games they are correcting Palms lack of work, this is what bothers me, those guys at precentral did awesome job but it is not there job to do that it is Palms, and i get the feeling that palm is again falling a sleep at the wheel. Look what is coming out on the market, you got RIM, Android and Moto these companies are just rolling out awesome product, Samsung 800 MHz proc for the Moment, and what has palm made since its release of the Pre, Pixi? thats a joke, few updates that fall short, battery still huge problem with the Pre. Its just a darn shame that it will take some time for Palm to get up to speed but by then all the other companies could be so far ahead that Palm wont be able to catch up. And look at some of the forums people are jumping ship left and right and all are happy with the Hero and it does not hold well for Palm. I wonder what will the next update hold in store from Palm.
