Its just a darn shame that it will take some time for Palm to get up to speed but by then all the other companies could be so far ahead that Palm wont be able to catch up. And look at some of the forums people are jumping ship left and right and all are happy with the Hero and it does not hold well for Palm. I wonder what will the next update hold in store from Palm.
How can Palm respond to this?
100% agree. The "Pixi" as the 2nd WebOS phone from Palm is just laughable. I cant believe the people at palm think that the "Pixi" is a great follow up to the Pre. If anything, we should have been expecting a phone that slides to the side (like the Touch Pro 2) with at least a 5megapixle camera, larger screen, memory card and the featurs that should have come standard on this phone.
Not a gimped phone that lacks Wifi and other features.

Dont get me wrong I love the Pre but I dont see why people over at precentral.net have to correct Palm's mistakes, and that bothers me very much to a point of honestly disgust, those guys are very smart and instead of making patches or tweaks they could have created awesome games or apps, Palm should be a shamed of them selfs for letting other people do there work for them, that is not what you call open source. Simple customizable things should have came with the Pre, ringtones, camera zoom in, zoom out, video camera and other things to many to list here. All things I said is the main reason i will most likely moving on to the Hero, I know Hero has its problems but there is no perfect phone, but at least HTC and Android are working and making strong enhancements and fixing bugs, with Palm they fix some bugs and a ton of other bugs pop out, like with update 1.2 the Exchange stopped working, what is Palm thinking about? Those guys who use Exchange had to wait 5 days that is so crazy it is honestly sheechless, and now we have to wait till nov for some kind of update, and i honestly doubt that Palm will fix these small issues, but these small issues are huge to us regular fokes, like a simple ringtone customization is not to much to ask, is it?
Pre so easy to use even a caveman can use it.

Not at all. I think they need to get their head into the game. Hell, Motorola has started to get their act together ...what is Palm's problem? They been in the phone game longer than anyone. They really need another award winning phone like the PRe coming out.

They dont need another phone coming out, they need to get this one "Pre" fixed ASAP. Cause the more phone come out the more people will jump the Palm ship, they need to release 2 updates that fix 90% of the problems and implement customizations options for the smallest thing on the phone. And also open the GL so guys can develop games, for some unkown reason Palm is in neutral gear.
Pre so easy to use even a caveman can use it.

I agree with a lot of what you've said here Joe. The answer cannot always be, "there's a hack for that" or you need "preware". I posted a story a few weeks back regarding the app limit issue and had people chastising me on Facebook. They of course pointed to Fair Dinkum. Okay, so you're saying a customer needs to download Preware and then install something called "Fair Dinkum". Ok, and this is a mainstream consumer phone?
I hate to use the iPhone as example, but could you imagine Steve Jobs allowing this to happen to the iPhone. Jailbreak was big, but no where near the popularity of what's happening with webOS. I noticed Palm offering support to people who fouled up their phone as a result of homebrew. I applaud them for tolerating homebrew, but out and out support becomes a slippery slope.

I was thinking the samething. I'm wondering what's wrong with Palm's strategy. They need to focus on fixing Pre before the end of the year. 100% agree with that. That needs to be the main focus. We need to pull our thoughts together to find out what needs to be in those major updates. But I think they are going to need a major slam dunk for Q1 of next year. And if they are smart, they will have that phone out buy Feb at the lastest. I thkn at this point they need to turn to HTC , Samsung or another device maker to help out. THey may loose a little money for outsourcuing the design, but they will win alot of fans by using one of the bigger names

Just looked at Engadgets Moment Review. I was aware that is was nor running "Sense UI". To me that what maker the Hero more attactive than the other Android devices on the market. But I just rembered that "Sense UI" is a HTC program. Not to mention the Moment is runnin "Cupcake" and not "Doughnut". I think the standard Android build is a little las luster. I think I'm still gonna wait to get me another phone. But my wife wants the Moment.

I've been looking at. I'm not at fan of "boxy" looking devices. It looks really nice though. No helpful UI customization there either.

Default OS though and an update to 2.0. I'm curious to see what improvements are out in 2.0.
