I'm wondering how much I'll have to pay up front for the Pre.

Would I pay $299 and then also be eligible for a $100 mail-in rebate?

If you are eligible for the 2 yr renewal and you buy it from Sprint you will pay $299 up front and have to send in the $100 MIR. Differs if you purchase from Best Buy, then you will pay $199 upfront, they deal with the MIR.

Depends on location..call your local store up. they should not be secretive anymore since the phone is finally out.
