Default How to use a Centro(that had sprint) on Verizon??

OK, I have Sprint and have had them for like 8 yrs so I've never had to use "unlocked" phones or what now, so I need some help on what to do, My fiance and I both have the HTC touch pro on sprint, but he has an old centreo that is just sitting around, well we have a friend that needs a phone but is on Verizon and so we were just going to give him the centreo, but the thing is if we bought he phone on sprint what do I do or how do I go about finding a way to unlock the phone, so that our friend can use the centro on verizon with his phone number???/

Unlocking CDMA phones doesn't work in the same way traditional GSM phones can be unlocked. CDMA phones don't use SIM cards, and require a code from the carrier to unlock (which they'll almost never give out). Even if you can get the phone unlocked, I doubt you'll be able to get Verizon to activate it on their network. The firmware running on Centro's is different from carrier to carrier.

Basically, you can't. Your best bet is to try trading in the Centro to Verizon and see if they'll swap it with a Centro on the Verizon network, or give a discount towards one instead of having to pay the standard fee for a new one.

Knowing Verizon, they'll probably laugh in your face if you try. Good luck.

Yeah, unfortunately there's no way to migrate handsets. Unless you want to experiment with some super-creative hacking genius! Good luck. :laugh3:

This is actually possible. You need to grab the Verizon Centro flash, then just have Verizon Wireless throw the ESN onto the account. As of last year, Verizon became "open" allowing customers to throw any CDMA phone on their account.
