    Default Must read!!

So, I work for Apple right. Well, I was just speaking with a customer who works for Sprint. We started talking about the Pre. I told her how I'm having all kinds of problems with mine, and need to get it exchanged. She was like, "well, I'm not supposed to tell yo this, but...when you get your phone replaced, they give you a refurbished one, but don't tell you."

Just a heads up. If you are getting your phone replaced, I would call sprint c.s. and give them the msid, and ask if it is listed as new or refurb...that way, you know if they try to give you a refurb.

ALSO, I took my phone in the other day. The tech was like, "Well, its not doing any of the things you described." I was like WTF!! SO, just because it doesn't do any of the 5 things I described in the two minutes you looked at it...then nothing is wrong with it?!!?!!

FINALLY, If you google SPRINT CORPORATE the third or fourth link is to some numbers to direct lines for some of the corporate execs. Believe me, I will be calling the SVP of Customer Care. His name is Bryan Digiorgio and his number is 913-794-1705.

I don't buy into the stigma about refurbs. You're not just getting handed a phone that somebody put plastic wrap on and called it a day. You're getting a phone that has been physically inspected by a human being, with any and all defective parts replaced, and while it is technically as good as or better than new, they can't legally sell or ship it as "new" because some bad sports ruined it for the responsible companies by shipping substandard products.

iPhones get replaced with refurbs frequently, and this same stigma persists with too many people I've seen & heard.

In any case, I'm not sure what inviting a bunch of people to keep the corporate phone lines off the hook will solve. If anything, the best thing you can do is stop spreading such misinformation about the perceived inferior quality of refurbs. no offense intended.

None taken. Im not saying that refurbs are always bad, but it definitely does happen. Im just saying that if you spend money on a new phone, then you shouldn't get it replaced with a refurb. Thats all. Also, my intentions weren't for everyone to flood the corporate lines, but rather to provide the information in case it is needed. There are times that definitely warrant going to corporate. I feel that Sprint saying there is nothing wrong with my phone, just because it didn't do one of the many things right at that moment...now they want to give out a refurb... definitely is one of those times. I don't feel that is quality customer service, and that is the field I am in. Thanks for listening. :-)

Just a heads up, not saying its right or wrong, but most (if not all) phone companies replace your phone with a refurb. And most refurbs are typically phones that were opened to show a customer. Less frequently they tend to be returns, and as previously stated returns are always fine tooth comb checked...

Oh I know. But, I refuse to accept a refurb. It' principle. ya know?
I had my Treo 700P replaced like five times. I got four refurbs from Palm. I was fed up with it so after speaking with about six different palm reps/managers, I finally got them to send me a brand new phone. They sent me the entire box. (batery, phone, cd, headphones, charger) Its just my opinion that, with a little bit of work, these big corporate companies will take care of you.
