I was cruising around the FAQ on EverythingPre, which I hadn't visited before, and came across this:

Does the Palm Pre offer GPS Navigation?
Yes, the Palm Pre includes GPS support and will offer turn by turn driving directions using Sprint Navigation. You will need a Sprint plan that includes Navigation.
Do the Everything Data plans include Navigation, or would this be an additional charge?

I believe it will, but Google Maps should be free to use, just like it is with any other phone.

Yeah, having portable Google Maps will be a huge upgrade for me, never having owned any smartphone, but I'd certainly enjoy full on GPS navigation. Not enough to pay extra for it, but if it comes along with what I'm paying, I'd like the Pre that much more.

Ditto to no smartphone - no google maps and GPS navigation. Any help on that front would be most welcome. Got a big trip in the works for 1st week of June - hope it comes out before then.

I asked Sprint customer service about adding a Pre-compatible data plan to my current voice-only plan. They told me I'd have to go with the "Power Pro" data plan for $30 per month. The customer service person told me that the "Power Pro" plan included unlimited data, unlimited messaging, and unlimited navigation. Not that I've actually been able to find details of this "Power Pro" data package anywhere on Sprint's website...

I have the Everything 1500 $129 plan and it does include Sprint navigation with it. We use it all the time on our blackberries.

That's the nice thing about Sprint, they don't charge you $10 for the GPS in addition to the data like some AT&T does this, among other double dipping on plans that AT&T does, is one of the main reasons I've stayed away from the iPhone.
I've been with Sprint for about a year, I'm hoping the Pre's GPS will be voice-guided, as I've come to rely on this on a at least weekly basis. I'm currently on a data unlimited, text unlimited and 450 mins plan for around 80 something a month after the different d/l's I might do monthly...

If this ( the pre ) didnt have navigation i dont think that I would have switched. I've come to rely on it. Finding stores in the area, directions, and numbers... i just love the navigation on the Instinct. Its about the only reason that I have that phone, i hate it otherwise.

I use both Google Maps and Sprint Navigation, since they have different strengths:
- Sprint Nav is voice-guided, Google Maps is not
- Google Maps has a better search feature (when looking for a restaurant, for example, you get reviews as well as directions and you can plot favorites on a map - great for playing tourist!)
