Default New customer to Sprint and cellphones in general.

I'm going to be attending college in the fall and have decided it's about time I get a cell phone. The Palm Pre has certainly caught my attention.

My brother and I both have decided to get Palm Pre's in August (hopefully we can find some). We've decided to split an "Everything Data Family Plan" with 1500 anytime minutes (we will each end up paying $65).

The main question is, will we both end up paying $199 (after rebate and service agreement), or will one of us have to pay full price for a second Palm Pre?

Hi and welcome to the forums.

I did a quick test-run, pretending I was a new customer. I chose the plan you listed, then on the next page I selected 'same phone package for everyone'. I chose the Treo Pro for the first line (I was forced to choose a quantity of 1), then simply Continued past the next two screens, where I would have otherwise added other features and accessories. I selected the Treo Pro because it lists for the same price as the Pre.

Interestingly, the site automatically selected qty (2) Treo Pros for me, and I was given the chance to change to a different phone if I had been so inclined.

If you look at the attached photos you can see that the Point-Of-Sale price is $600, with 2x$100 mail-in rebates.

I would surmise, then, that your net cost each will be the same $199 as others.

Good luck with your new phones, and in college!

    Best,
    .

You will both get it for $199 after MIR if you buy it directly from Sprint. Sprint treats each phone on the plan separately when it comes to rebates and phone upgrades. Also try to find out if your parents or somebody works for a company that gets a discount. Just call in customer service with the Company name and see if you are eligible, always worth a shot to save some money, good luck with Sprint and college.

Most colleges offer a discount, too. Worth a shot.

Thanks to all of you for replying to my thread. Special thanks to .plaid for going through Sprint's checkout to see if each phone gets discounted. Also, thanks to catallah, lorcha and myclub69 for tips on discounts.
