    Default Phone Recycling

    Preface:
If there is all ready a thread on this, you are welcome to refer me there instead of typing a response. I just didn't see one.

I have heard people mention "recycling phones." What exactly do we mean by this? Are we talking about giving it back to Sprint and getting a little bit of money back?

I called my local corporate store today and while I was on hold the nice message-robot-lady told me that I could get credit for turning in my old phone(s) and batteries.

I still have my old Sanyo PM8200 mit battery as well as my current Q+2 batteries (natch); I'll turn in my Sanyo, if they'll take it, but I'll likely hang on to my Q for a bit just in case the Pre turns out to be lemony. /ducks incoming flames.

How much credit? I have a phone pile-up that could use some thinning out.

Well, I'm not sure. I would guess that the phone would have to be resellable (maybe even on their Boost program) so oldies might not fetch a lot. I'll endeavor to call my corporate store tomorrow and ask directly. Another option is to call customer support and see what they say.

It depends on the phone and how old. Its called sprint buy back. I spoke to them and they will give me $15 dollars for my 1st version katana and $50 dollars for my rumor and instinct. The only thing i cant use it towards the pre it comes on your bill as a credit.

I went into my Sprint store the other day and they said they would give me $50 (which is apparently the maximum) for my Centro. That is also the amount they would give for the Treo and (I'm assuming) any smart phone/PDA.

Here is the link to a list of all eligible phones & how much they are worth for the buyback. The phone must have also been active on Sprint to be eligible.

Any suggestions on what to do with a Sprint Mogul in good working order? BB buy back offered $56 but i'm curious to know how it would do on ebay.

$56 cash in hand seems like a good deal, I do not see it going for much more on ebay unless it is in near perfect condition (if it is you could get over $100 I bet), also you might give craigslist a shot. Try a high price or best offer (OBO) and see if you get higher than $56. I love craigslist since there are no fees and you can always turn around and say no sale. Good luck selling it!
