Sprint Nextel getting HTC Touch Pro 2 Sept. 8
Sprint Nextel announced it will begin selling the business-centric HTC Touch Pro 2 on Sept. 8 for $350 after a $100 rebate and a two-year contract.
The Windows Mobile 6.1 device will include a large resistive touch screen and a slide-out five-row QWERTY keyboard. The device will be able to receive push corporate and private email along with calendar and contact information. The Touch Pro 2 also sports a high-quality speakerphone that has dual microphones and noise filters, WiFi, EV-DO connectivity, assisted-GPS and Bluetooth.
"Unlike devices that focus solely on specifications, HTC Touch Pro 2 was designed with the philosophy that people should be at the center of the communications experience," said Jason Mackenzie, vice president of HTC America, in a statement. "So, instead of having to search through multiple applications to find a specific message, HTC Touch Pro 2 intuitively organizes all communications, whether voice, text, or email, under a single contact card."
Verizon Wireless is also expected to get its hands on the HTC Touch Pro 2 later this year. T-Mobile already has it.

Two words.. Windows Mobile.. No thanks..

It is good for people who love Android and have Sprint, more phones more choices and better for Sprint.

You mean "who loves Windows Mobile"?
I loved my Pro but never saw the "use" in the Pro2.
A screen upgrade, a couple other gadgets like the mics(?), but underneath the same "classic" HTC hardware.
The Diamond2, odd the Diamond and Pro where essentially the same, is a much improved device over the original.
How can they justify the cost for the hardware?

Why do you say Windows Mobile, Hero doesnt run on Windows Mobile, the core is Linux.
Why is everyone comparing it to Windows Mobile, I never had a windows mobile phone or android phone so i dont have much info, I know i dont want a windows mobile phone for my wife, but she like the Hero so it is most likely be getting her the Hero when it comes out, just want more information about it.

The hero is android, the Touch Pro 2 is Widows (Mobile) 6.1 with an upgrade to 6.5.
Windows mobile is a good OS. Very mature with thousands of apps.
Phone arena, I believe, did a review of the GSM Hero and while they said it was the best Android device it still had issues.

Thank you, reading reviews about this Sprint Hero model:
"The HTC Hero effectively crushed any hopes Palm had at keeping any sort of momentum (at least in my view)." <--From Boy Genius Report,
And he also says:
"Though what I’ve found, sadly, is I get more enjoyment out of using my HTC Magic or the T-Mobile myTouch 3G than I do with the Hero. Like I said, HTC’s achievements and innovations aren’t anything to dismiss, they are what to me makes Android usable, but with the current hardware powering the HTC Hero, things become murky and frustrating."

Widows probably won't appeal to older married women.

Frustrating is the word. I'll never own another phone without physical buttons.
There not taking any thunder away, under the fancy suit it's still Android.
WebOS is through and through goodness. Not suit cover the shell.
Yeah I saw the "widows" but couldn't chang it from my Pre. Take it up with Chris (:
