Sprint Outsourcing Network to Ericsson
Wonder if they are doing this in anticipation of new customers joining with the launch of the Pre.
The move is meant to cut costs to help offset Sprint's dwindling subscriber numbers, the Journal reported on its website on Sunday.

Interesting article.
"But Sprint may choose not to move forward with the outsourcing strategy at all, the Journal reported, citing sources."
A lot is riding on the launch of the Pre. Sprint just has a Plan B in place - as any good company should.

Totally agree. There needs to be options in place to do whatever necessary to make this as smooth a launch and rollout as possible.

I wonder if Sprint is considering a move away from CDMA, to the more popular GSM. I assume that would cut some costs somewhere.
Yes, it would be a huge undertaking- but if they started now, it would be done in 5 years.

What would be nuts, especially now when they are bleeding customers.

Yeah - that would be kind of crazy. They need to do something to stop the bleeding (customers leaving) now. Obviously the Pre launch is a step in the right direction but they have to back that up with a rock solid network, or at least let me connect in my house, and strong customer service. Should be an interesting next year or so.
