Sprint vs Verizon?

I live right outside of Philly(Other side of the bridges lol) and have Sprint. I do have to say I could be a little bias as I am going on year 10 of being with Sprint. As for the customer service I have had my ups and downs with them, but recently(the last year atleast) CS has been pretty good.

As for overall phone service ie: drop calls, internet everything is great. If I had to make an average Id say I have maybe 0.5 to 1 drop calls a month, probably not even that. I rarely ever lose coverage...no less than atleast 1 bar on EV, in fact I know of the few places where I might drop off of EV range.

I have also been living in one of those houses where cell phone service is usually horrible, except for my phone...most people that come by have to go outside or walk around within the house to find a good signal.

If Sprint is going to be cheaper for you, and a chance at a PRE alot earlier than when maybe Verizon might get it, then I can definitely say you wont be losing anything as far as service if you decide to switch over, certainly in the Philly area.

And 7pm starting time is great...considering I dont make calls during normal business hours during the week, I hardly ever use my regular minutes...I think last month I used 25.

I sell both Sprint and Verizon phones and I deal with customer services for both on a daily basis and Sprint is worse then Verizon but is improving very rapidialy. As for coverage I sell buseiness that travel all over the states and form what i hear i would have to disagree that sprint has better recipiton. Verizon reception is only going to get stronger with them buy alltel. i myself have sprint and have very few problems where i use my phone

The only thing I would like sprint to do, that Verizon has picked up on is the ability to have a group of "non sprint numbers" you can call with your minutes not being impacted. You will find more people have Verizon, than have Sprint... So, I've never found Sprint mobile to mobile to be much of a benefit.

We do the Fair & Flexible Family500 plan which is more than enough for us. And, I have seen nothing to compare to it at other vendors. Sprint has been good to us for years (beginning with our first $10 plan). In the early years, there were some customer service challenges but nothing major and Sprint provided an adequate resolution.

You should also check with your employer, school, or professional organization to see if discounts could be applied even if your service is not paid for by them.

Also, coverage in rural areas is available but access to the data network in the country is sometimes spotty.

I have been pretty happy with Sprint. I've been with them for several years and have never had an issue. I've heard a few complaints about bad customer service but I've never experienced it.

We have the Shared Everything Data plan. It would have cost more to have a plan that included data and messaging with Verizon.

I don't do a lot of traveling so I can't say much for Sprint's coverage in different areas but the coverage in the DC area is great. I rarely lose coverage or have a dropped call.

Sprint is WAY better than verizon when it comes to plans. My situation isn't all that great so I would have to pay more to join verizon's network. Sprint welcomed me with open arms. got a a great phone, service and plan. Who could ask for more?

I have to agree with brettsupapre on the coverage issue. Sprint is great everywhere people want to go, but when you go on vacation to podunk town in the middle of no where, only verizon gets service (I tested this unfortunately). The acquisition of Alltel and RCC (Unicell) made Verizon the largest network in the US (Enough so that they actually had to sell towers because they became a "Monopoly") with somewhere in the 80 million customer range, though I would still argue on being the "best". I am a sales rep for Verizon Wireless, but don't have any bias for them.. and only carry a verizon phone because how amazingly cheap their employee plans are.

Treome: If you want to get out without an early term fee, there are sometimes ways around it, and the early term fee is prorated, so the longer you wait, the less it is.

anyone have any experience with Sprint in the Cabo area? I will be in the vicinity of San Jose Del Cabo next week and I have no idea what kind of coverage to expect. I will be taking my daughters 'dumb' phone so i don't inadvertently rack up any data charges through. also, does anyone know if incoming texts are $.20 or just outgoing?

I have very few problems with Verizon. Then again, I am in the Philadelphia metro region with few dead zones that I know of.

incoming and outgoing are $.20 each as are picture and video messages.
