Why I think iPhone would have been better on Sprint
(or another US network)
I'm sorry, but people keep making excuses for AT&T, and I don't by it. More people, then on any other US carrier, use data on Sprint then other carriers. I mean out of 50M customers sprint has, a bigger precentage of people use data then on, say, AT&T. And it's sad that one of the greatest phones of our time had to be EDGE and not 3G, just because AT&T wasn't ready. It's also sad that the greatest phone in our time can't have MMS yet, because AT&T isn't ready for it.
Now I know Sprint isn't perfect, but I am sure their network is more ready for the iPhone then AT&T. And I know Verizon is. So, why does Apple live with this?
What do you guys think?

The Iphone would have fit nicely on Sprint but I do not think Apple was willing to bank on Sprint, especially since they were known as one of the worst providers.

Two years ago, if I remember correctly, Sprint wasn't in this problem. But I wasn't all over listening to everything and reading every web site, like I am now, so I could be wrong.
Plus Sprint had a lot more customers back then. And AT&T wasn't the greatest, either, because b4 the iPhone I heard a lot of horror stories from friends with AT&T.
However, you might be right that they wanted t he bigger carrier -- and AT&T was bigger. I just think it's sad the best phone in the world isn't on the best netowork in the world. I would even rate Verizon better then AT&T, and I don't like them, either.

I think with the Palm Pre hype I'm seeing, Sprint's seeing some light.
Sprint had some HORRIBLE smartphone choices...
I mean, no offense to HTC, but... eww.
I'd say the best phone they had was the Blackberry Curve 8330... smartphone-wise. And even then, they were way behind in my opinion.
PhoneArena compares phones within their own carrier.

Look at that... 9.9, because comparing Palm Pre to other Sprint phones is laughable.

Yea I know what you mean, but I think that will be changing with the Pre and other WebOS devices and the Android devices coming later this year. I think this will be a good year for Sprint.

I heard Sprint may be able to carry the iPhone next year b/c the contract will be p with At&T

I have to say, I've been with sprint for over 7 years and I like it better now than I ever have.
They have better customer service now, who you can actually work with and talk into giving you perks. The coverage area in southern california is as good if not better than Verizon's and definitely better than AT&T (i had an iphone for 2 weeks before moving back to sprint, and thank God I left the AT&T network).
And with the Pre, it is the best phone I've ever had, hands down. I love it, smooth, keyboard is great (even with my big hands), screen is beautiful and the best part is i have easy ssh access to its linux which opens a lot of opportunities for homegrown software (which i'm working on). I was even able to run BitchX (linux command prompt irc client) from my ssh terminal to my phone.
iPhone will never rival the Pre, and as soon as Palm opens the SDK up and the app store kicks up, iPhone phanboys will have nothing to talk about.

The current iPhone line-up is GSM/UMTS. Apple would have to develop a CDMA model. If Apple decides to keep their current line-up but unlocks it, you'd only be able to use it with AT&T or T-Mobile here in the US. (There are more options in the rest of the world where GSM/UMTS is prevalent.)

I dont want the IPhone to come to Sprint because I'm tired of Apple-fanboys being up my arse about me getting the Pre. However, I do feel like the IPhone's talent was wasted on AT&T, but in its defense, AT&T probably had the best contract offer.
I finally have my Pre! Apple be damned!

if apple wanted to intercept the palm pre they should of released the i phone to sprint, but what the heck apples get worms and i dont care for apple pie
