Default A Warning to all T-Mobile Treo 600 Users...

I just thought I would post a "heads up" to anyone out there that currently has T-Mobile as a carrier and
uses the Treo 600... The Treo 600 has been discontinued and T-Mobile no longer carries any other PALM based
smartphone. I just found this out last night when I dropped my Treo, busting the screen, and called
T-Mobile, who referred me to Asurion (the insurance company for T-Mobile @ $5.99 a month). When I went to
file the claim for a replacement phone I was told that they no longer carry the Treo 600 and that the only
replacement(s) they would send would be either a Sidekick or Blackberry (neither of which uses the PALM
compatible applications). I was told my only other options were to 1. purchase a Treo 600 from a T-Mobile
store and be reimberssed in 2 - 4 weeks (I called every store in the area and NONE carry the Treo 600) 2.
purchase another compatible phone Treo 650 at my expense 3. have a replacement phone sent, and purchase a
PALM Pilot to use my PALM applications! 4. cancel my service, for $200 and go to a carrier that provides a
    PALM compatible phone!

Default Treo 600 for T-mobile for sale or trade

I have a Treo 600 from T-mobile, and I'm just not that happy with the coverage in my area. I would like to switch to Verizon. The phone is in great condition - and I would consider a trade or $$$. Send me your offers.

That insurance company is a joke. I got in a heated debate with them over my old phone. They are required to replace your phone with a COMPARIBLE phone. I don't think the sidekick is...its a gameboy phone.

Speak with a supervisor and ask them to replace it with a 650. That is the replacement phone, which is what they should do for you. If they will not do that, ask them to provide a 650 and offer to pay the balance between the price of a 600 and a 650.

Asurion is a JOKE...I wish there was another company to go through. I think they are used for every cellular provider.

    Favorite what game boy?

obviously ep_threezy hasnt had any experience with the sidekick. it is absolutely not a game boy. sure its not palm based like the treo 600 , no touch screen or wifi or Ir. but other features more than makes up for these shortcomings. like the messenger, camera, fast web browser and so on. give it a chance dude youll discover it has a lot to offer. and oh its "made in japan" unlike the treo from china?or malaysia? the sidekick will definitely last a long time than any of its competitors. and thanks for the info about that insurance company, good thing i didnt fall for their trap. insurance is supposed to make you feel secured.

    Just a quick note here:

Sprint uses lock\line as their insurance option and I have had to use it twice now. It went as smooth as possible...no problems whatsoever.

    Exclamation Asurion/Tmobile and even Lockline

I have been reading alot on the net, and even compiled some NEW info that I think might add well to this thread.

Currently, TMobile just released the MDA and SDA series Windows Smartphones, and I'm currently holding out for one of these phones as replacement for my Treo. One rumor I picked up from a reseller, is that the Sidekick II, is severly backordered, and will likely be discontinued by the time they have caught up with production.

I was told that the only sidekics still coming out, are the refurbed ones being sold into prepaid service (interesting eh?)..

As for Lockline, the way I understand it, they will NO LONGER insure a PDA/Smartphone, either for Cingular or Sprint, or whomever they insure for. So if you have lockline and a Smartphone purchased within the last year, you are SOL when it comes to insurance.

I hae to say, I am VERY disapointed with what I've read about people asurion experiances... I've read on other forums, that if you GUESS the date of purchase, or date of damange, and are WRONG, they will cancel your claim, close your acct, and threaten you with insurance fraud lawsuits. (

I am also disapointed @ TMobile USA for being SO far behind TMobile EU.... Because I am LUSTING over a TMobile MDA IV at the moment! ;)

N-E-Ways, I've made my claim, all my info has been verified, but I am to speak with an adjuster, maybee they will work with me towards getting the new MDA or SDA phones? Or maybee they will work with me to replace my Treo 600 1/1 as I would be DELIGHTED for that. I love my treo, but need to get on with my work/life, and my phone/PDA IS my life, and my business.

You Lock/Line info may not be accurate. I filed a claim with them for my wife's Treo 600 (Sprint) two weeks ago and they gave me no problem whatsoever. They even sent a 650 to replace the 600....no cables but we are content with just having our cake.

My info came from several messageboards, but said that they NO LONGER insure pda phones, it's possible that you had yours insured b4 this change, and also possible that the ppl on the other message boards didn't know what they were talking about

Update, I talked with Asuirion, and my Treo 600 is being replaced by a T-Mobile SDA. It's currently backordered and they have no estimate when they will come in, but one will be set aside for me, and they will call me every 2-3 days to give me a status update on my claim.

This wasn't nearly as painful as I thought it was going to be But I STILL wish I had a fully working Treo600 as I LOVEd it dearly.

BTW, the lady from Asurion DID try to convince me that the Blackberry had a Camera... which would b a neat trick as NONE of the blackberry's I've seen have a camera.
