Default New T-Mobile Dash

Anyone else seen this. It's on their site now.

How well will this phone be compared to the new Treo coming out for the cingular platform.

I'm at a point where I would like to switch to cingular to try out the new Treo supposidly coming out this October, however, Tmobile came out with this new toy.

Should I switch and join the many treo lovers or should I stay with T-mobile and try this new phone out. You're thoughts are greatly appriciated.

Look at the form factor closely - look at the amount of space that appears to be "wasted" between the screen and the 5-way buttons. Look at the width, look at the screen size itself. Those are just beginning points. The key layout looks nothing like the Treo series and when comparing one-handed operation, the Treo series is normally the one to compare against.

My 700w looks better. If Windoz were really the way to go I would look at the 700wx. Ben

This phone received positive reviews from Engadget. It all depends on how you feel about Windows Mobile 5 smartphone. The form factor appears nice. I think you'll have more choices tomorrow. Palm has a press conference scheduled for 1 pm where they are expected to announce the Palm Treo 680 - a GSM phone.

Thanks for the replies...

Yes, I can’t wait for tomorrow and see what new phones will be announced.

Ben - answering your question as to why I wouldn’t get the 700wx. I need a GPRS phone and currently Sprint doesn’t offer this. Believe me, i was looking into it and almost jumped to get one but decided to hold off.

Chris - I'm a smartphone guy. From the MPX200, 220, I’ve loved the smartphone. Even in its early flaws I still love the capabilities of the windows mobile.

I guess I'll see what happens tomorrow and gauge it from there. If Treo really is coming out with a cingular windows mobile 5 OS in October time frame that would probably be my choice. If it's later in December, knowing my impatient I’ll get the DASH and then when Treo comes out, i'll switch.

<crossing fingers>

Not to confuse matters, but you can expect a GSM version of the Motorola Q probably around the December timeframe. All in all, you'll have a lot of choices come December.

The new Treo 680 will be out within the next month. I believe the mid-2007 applied to various world markets.

Yes, which is a good thing. The Palm OS is the easiest to use and they made further improvements to the UI.
