Does anyone have the new Sprint Treo 300?? I am curious as to how well and fast it navigates the web. I am a current Sprint customer and the wireless web on my current phone constantly says unable to connect, or timeout errors. Sprint's new Vision network sounds great if you can connect at least 90% of the time. Also curious if you can use AOL Instant Messenger and get your aol mail with this device.

Got the Treo 300 last week and love it.  I was skeptical at first, but everyday I get more addicted to this little wonder.  It surfs the web very well, especially compared to a WAP enabled phone (I've connected 100% of the time so far).  I also have been using it for AIM and it works well in that area too.  I don't use AOL mail, so I can't comment on that.  It costs a lot, but in my opinion, if you can afford it, it's worth every dollar.

Thanks for your info! Glad it's working for you. Just curious what city and state you live in? In my area I very often have problems connecting on my older sprint PCS phone to the wireless web...even when I have a full signal and call make phone calls. If the Treo 300 works as well in my area as it does for you I will definately be getting one!

got one...  live in malibu.  works better than every other wireless i've tried.  my at&t CONSISTENTLY drops calls all over the pacific coast highway from santa monica to ventura county, but the sprint was connected the entire way, and to my ears actually sounded better.   last weekend i drove from san diego to malibu and the phone worked the entire way EXCEPT for near San Onofre.   No sprint coverage for about 5-10 miles along the 405 but right after that it worked all the way home with ZERO drops.

as far as wireless web, its pretty fast and appears to stay connected all the time.   the blazer browser needs to improve... as i'm certain it will.   ultimately evolving into a ie type with ftp, quicktime & some audio.   currently having problems with sprint email setup but i was able to get my regular email from mail2pda.com (a free service) and also from a standalone app called pixer.    they both work though pixer costs about $40 or so.  Pixer also can display small gifs and jpeg...   less than 200x200.    still cool though.

wants:   to be able to use it as a modem for my powerbook or pc laptop via some cable or wireless connection.   also we need true mac osx support... itz necessary!!!

keyboard is excellent and makes this thing comepletely loveable.  i avoided using the grafitti on my palm 3c as much as possible.

form factor is a little wide overall... getting use to it.

and most of all, the speaker phone sounds incredible on the other end, so i'm told by everyone...  good mic and noise reduction.   i literally leave it on the passenger seat.

    also, aol anywhere for treo.

The phone works great for me and so does the PDA.  Like some others, however, I've had trouble getting provisioned for data access.

Agreed. Phone is great, PDA is great, but Sprint apparently rolled out the data network before it was ready. After 2.5 weeks and 10 or so phone calls to Sprint tech support, I still can't connect to their data network.

The worst part is that every call to Sprint takes about 45 minutes, during which you have to provide your phone number, name, and account password at least twice, and wait in two different service queues while listening to the same forcefed marketing messages from Sprint over and over again. The marketing messages tell you how great the web site is, but the only way to interact with tech support is by calling them.

    Hi all,

Well, it's been a week since I got my treo 300 (an upgrade frommy Prism/Visorphone) and here's what I have to say.

First and foremost, if you are not technically saavy and/or have high blood pressure, I recommend you NOT buy this unit, mainly because the technical support is undescribably HORRIBLE.

Look forward to hours, yes HOURS, on hold, only to get help from someone that clearly does not know as much as you do (or simply to be hung up on -- this happened 4 times to me).  I think over the past week I've spent 10 hours on hold, and I've known more than most with whom I've spoken.

SERIOUSLY -- If you care about or need competant help, skip this unit.

However, there is little doubt that, once you get this thing working, the data far surpasses everything else.  It's fast and clean, and yes fairly reliable.

I especially like Sprint Business Connection, which is worth the $5 per month because it allows me to connect with Lotus Notes effortlessly. I can even add attachments from my hard drive at work.

The phone service quality is noticably better than VoiceStream (My VisorPhone).  They had a lot of echo (my callers would hear themselves), and Sprint is better.  The functionality is the same, and all functionality for the unit was seamlessly hotsynched -- all my speed dials came over.

So, in summary, Horrible and terrible customer service, good phone, and excellent functionality.

    OH By the way,

I use PocketFlash for AOL access, and it works great.  AOL Anywhere doesn't work well, but I've heard that you can use the Palm VII softwarewith this unit.  However, as PocketFlash works great, I'd just pay the $20.

Have had treo 300 for 2 weeks.  Great device but can't get email up.  Sprint support said "wasn't set up for email"! They had me download Eudora-free.  I did and still can't get email up.  Since loading Eudora I can't browse web---getting a Sprint Bus Conn logon screen that won't recognize my password. Sprint support is 1 hour wait and no help. Any ideas???

I've been unable to figure out how to access the business connection features on my phone or on the Sprint website.

    It's totally driving me crazy.

I've spent hours and hours on the phone trying to get help but sprint says their website has been down.

In my opinion the whole experience has been kind of a joke and I wouldn't recommend sprint to anyone. >
