    Default email problem

    Hi all
This is my first post to this forum, and i am a total beginner to using a palm device, the main reason i bought it is that being deaf, i need to access email on the road for my employment.
Now i am having a serious problem with trying to reset my email password.
at first i put in the wrong password, from there on, i have had to go in to settings to change it to the correct password to access my emails, once i have logged off, it resets to the wrong password, i have tried delating the account and setting up a new account with the correct password, but the old incorrect one keeps coming back, how do i fix this problem?
    All advice appreciated
    Cheers
    Colin

on a Treo 500v....after changing the password...try doing a soft reset by taking out the battery or quickly press the power button then select Power Off

    Sorry, no it didnt work
I even unticked the save password, powered off, then on, took the battery out, no change.

But the strange thing is, when i turned it on this morning, i got an email from you on the palm before it even showed up on my pc, and thought it was fixed, but now its doing the same thing again.:frown:

there is no known issue with the Treo 500v with the email password that I know of.

Anyway, is your password alpha-numeric? Maybe you forgot to press the option button to get the numbers when you saved it.

Here's another thing that you can try: unchecked the option for save password. Then enter the correct password without saving it. Try it for a couple of times. Then do another soft reset. Once you have rebooted your device, go to settings again, enter the password then at this time, check the option for save password.

If the problem still persist, then the last option I can suggest it that you perform a hard reset. Then re-configure the account.

Just tried resetting the password again, and sent myself a msg, the palm would not send, and gave a -550 relay not permitted?

"550 relay not permitted", with that error message, that means that you have an incorrect smtp/outgoing mail server

with the password problem of yours, I'm checking it out with my Treo 500v here...hope I can replicate the issue...

    Default smtp settings

Have checked the outgoing smtp settings, they are correct,
and also checked my credit balance and have found that i have used $150 of my monthly credit since last thursday, the day i got the phone????

i have not even looked at the internet at all, i dont think i could be using that much data just by checking if my email is working?

I am seriously thinking of buying a plain ordinary phone, and using the sims card in that, would that work?
