I'm thinking of adding another phone to my T-Mobile sevice. I'm not planning to use a 2nd sim card, but only will use the phone as a backup. How does that work, do I just put my SIM card in the new phone or do I have to have the phone activated/registered with T-Mobile?
If I'm correct, you can just swap your SIM card. You're planning on using your SIM Card from your Treo for both the new phone and the Treo -- correct?
If you pick up a T-Mobile phone off eBay, it should work.

Borrow a friends T-Mobile phone and try you SIM card. Then it's off to eBay. I'm sure you can find a phone cheap there...

Will do. I also found quite a few auctions for SIM cards. Why would someone want to buy and extra card? Doesn't it still have to be activated with the provider and don't you get one with additional phones purchased?
I'm guessing that some people are buying phones (without SIM Cards) and there's a market for SIM cards.
Yes, you'd still have to call the provider and give them the details of the SIM (whatever they might be) to activate the card.
How are the deals on old phones? With all the phones (and upgraders), I'd think it shouldn't be too expensive to pick up a nice phone.
