broken screen, few questions

As you can tell from the title the screen was broken over 2 years ago, and I found the phone not too long ago in my closet. I took the screen out and was planning on buying a new one to install myself, but i try to insert my sim in the back and it does absolutly nothing....

now note that the phone has no screen attached, i understand that the phone was cingular and im trying to put a Tmobile sim in the phone, but is it still possible to flash the needed software onto the treo 600 and unlock it without having a screen attached? and if so what do i need to do to get the software onto the treo without being able to see anything?

another little side note, I put the old SIM(my card from 2 years ago) into the phone and it did the tone saying that it connected wireless mode, but i cant seem to get it to do it again, it has a full charge and the only noise it will make is the little knock that signals (im guessing) keypad unlock. but from there it makes no noises and has no flashing light.

Im wanting to buy the replacment screen but if i can tell its broken without spending the 50-60 $ i would rather not.
