Charging my Phone using the data cable
I read somewhere that you can charge your Treo 600 using the USB Date transfer cable. However, when I plug my phone into the cable (yes it's plugged into to PC), it doesn't charge. Is there something I should be doing to make it charge?
Thanks

I am able to charge mine however my cable may be unique. I have a cable that has an additional plug to plug in the charger. The USB end goes into my laptop and the other cable end connects to the phone. This connection has a "hot-sync" button on it and is charging the phone as well. So it may be that you do not have a cable that allows your to do that.

You can't charge it with the standard cable. There are some cables and cradles that will do both. I personally use the Seidio cradle and I love it. It charges and can be used for hot sync. check it out...

really you want a charger which can connect to the mains and connects to the usb port for syncing. this way when your machine is off it can still charge. Is there such a thing?

lots of chargers
There are a few different types of usb hotsync cables.
1. The y cable. This is one cord with 3 ends. One for your phone, one for your computer, and one so you can plug your WALL CHARGER into the cable to charge and sync at the same time.
2. A hotsync cable. This cable has only two ends. One for your phone and one for your computer but does not have the wires inside thecable needed to charge and only hotsyncs.
3. Hotsync charger cable. This cable has two ends. One for your phone and one for your computer. But the cable itself is thicker because extra wires were put in it so that it has the ability to charge and hotsync without any additional cords.
