Contact Telephone numbers not syncing

I have not had a problem for quite a while. Everything was syncing along just fine. All of a sudden today I went to look up a number of a friend on my TREO 600 and the name was not there. I thought... hmmm strange.

Then there was another name I looked for and that was also not the. Most ofmy info was finfe... however certain contacts were jsut gone! I panicked the rest of the evening while at work. I went home and saw all the info is still safely on my MAC Address book.

So I did a hot sync using my Missing Sync with the desktop overriding the handheld.

After the sync I checked my TREO 600, Now, the names appeared with the addresses and extra info...but NO Telephone numbers. I tried this 3 times ..but alas the goblins are at work once again.

Here is a copy of the history sating everything synced completely:
Sync starting at 7/1/06 3:14 AM (03:14:42) on USB (5.1.0)
OK Mark/Space Contacts
Sync completed successfully at 7/1/06 3:21 AM (03:21:09)

Any ideas please? I have over 2280 contacts and I am paranoid of losing the info (although I back up every morning and every night on an external hard drive after I do a sync.

Is there anything different about those numbers that you can distinguish? Category not syncing or phone number field?

nothing different about the numbers. They are some o the same numbers that have been in my various smart phones for the TREO for the past years.
I used two of the numbers I was looking for within the past week and they were there.
All of sudden yesterday ... gone

Hmmmm.... that's odd. Try adding a contact in the Treo and see if it comes over.

ok...so nothing was syncing properly at all with the contacts. I was going crazy.
The events were syncing fine.. but the addresses and phone numbers were not.


I did 5 syncs and all of a sudden after the 5th sync it resolved some conflicts and it starting syncing properly again. All the old numbers are back. The goblins seemed to have disappeared!

I obviously did an immediate backup to an external hard drive :<)

I hope this is now resolved and does not happen again.
