Contacts Erased During Hotsync

I am a user of the PalmOne 600. When performing a hotsync a few weeks ago, many of the addresses I've added in the last year or so disappeared, and appear to have been replaced by a file that says "Unnamed" when I scroll down to my contacts in my phone. I then did another hotsync and it completely erased my entire address book from my computer, while keeping many of the contacts I had entered several years ago in place, but with the "Unnamed" files coming first in the address book. I lost probably around 500 contacts. All subsequent hotsync attempts have failed in getting the information that I still have in my phone address book back on my computer and I just hotsynced another computer with my handheld and everything transfered over (date book, memos, etc.) EXCEPT FOR my contacts. Can you provide me with any advice on how to fix this problem and possibly how to recover my old info which I assume is long gone. Thanks.
