Need Help Dropped My Treo!!! Help!

Hey there,
I dropped my Treo 600 putting it back into my holder... on cement none the less.... The screen went black. I can hear my phone ring, I can poke on the screen and actually answer it. If I push on my screen I can actually see the entire screen - I can't do anything with it - but I can see it for a brief moment..... I'm DYING!!!

Is there any hope for it? I got it off Ebay, unlocked. So no warranty.. I guess I'm doomed to purchase another? Is there someplace that fixes them?

Thanks...
URGH!!!

Hi-
From your post, it sounds as if the Treo is working outside of your screen. If this is the case, you could try PDA Parts for a replacement screen. I'm not sure what 600's are fetching on eBay, but the with the release of the 600, it might be a good time to jump to the 650. You could check there for a 600 selling for parts. Just be sure the screen is working, otherwise you've got 2 Treos that need repair.

Good luck.
Chris

Default your dead 600

I just retired my 600 (got 700p )

It is Sprint version. I will gladly sell it to you real cheap. I know this list is not meant for commercial things, and I am not doing this to make money ... ... let me know if you want it. Of course you will have to do something to move your number over to the replacement phone, and I dont know if there are charges for that.

Hey, Thanks for the offer. I got on Ebay last night after I stopped banging my head against the wall for dropping the dang thing!!

I actually found an unlocked Treo 600 (I have T-Mobile) for "buy it now" $150.00 and the girl's selling it with a hard case , in case my clumsiness continues!! Her company gave her a new device so she's selling this one. It comes with international charger adapters - I've never been out of the country... don't guess I'll need those....

I looked at purchasing a new screen and they wanted $80.00 bucks for it - then I would have to find someone here in the heartland of Alabama that would know how to put it in. Plus I cracked the case, next to the stylus when it hit the ground. So I figured it'd be easier on me just to get another one.

I started to upgrade to a 650, but I just couldn't bear to spend the money...it's bad enough that I had to spend this for another phone.. urgh!
Thanks so much for the offer!!

Default Hey Chris

New question.... I currently use Palm Desktop at work for my calendar and everything else.... Is it going to be difficult to change devices and hotsync new device when I get it?

I know I had to put my serial/device # in palm desktop when I initially set everything up.. when I get the new phone, it will have a different device#. Will my current palm desktop allow me to change device #? or will I have to re-download everything, calendar appointments, contacts and all. Are you confused?

Not at all. Just hard reset the new Treo. When you first go to HotSync, associate it with your current Username on the PC - which would be you.

That's probably the product registration rather than the Palm Desktop configuration. You shouldn't have to do this at all.

Being unlocked, I don't believe a hard reset would lock it again. If you run into trouble, let me know and I'll do what I can to help.

Default Thanks Chris

Ok, scared of the hard resets -- for that reason -- in case they lock -- I don't know what to do if it locks... Gosh I hate being a newbee!

I'm sure you'll be hearing from me if I lock it... I don't know who the original carrier of the device is/was -- guess I'll know when I get it! Thanks!!!

Default new(er) treo

Hey, Just got in my replacement treo - I actually just plugged in the hotsync cable that was still connected to my work computer (the one with my old treo) and hit the hotsync button...it worked... it sync'd docs-to-go and everything to the newer treo - without any resets... I was amazed...
But I've noticed I can hear some static (not really the buzzing) just interference while talking on the phone, comes and goes... too scared to do the "buzz fix". I can't imagine opening this thing and getting it back together correctly.. guess I'll deal with the static sound...
