Default Floating Event

If anyone uses floating events, could you riddle me this:

I can set a floating event on the handheld and sync to PC, but can I set and event to float from within Palm Desktop and sync to handheld. I don't see anything that provides for this.

Thanks,
djd

I answered my own question. In case anyone uses floating events (Appointments that move to the next day if not completed)

On the handheld in the appointment details screen for type select "Float"

If entering in Palm desktop (This was my question) in the appointment note tab enter ##f

When you sync, the appointment shows with the floating indicator O, but for some reason when you enter on the handheld, the indicator is on the left side of the display and from the desktop it shows on the right side. Either way it seems to work.

I found an answer to that question too. If you don't enter an appointment time, then the O is on the left of the entry and if there is a time, it's on the far right.

How do you do floating events with Calendar? I bought DateBk5 to do floating events.

If entering in Palm desktop (This was my question) in the appointment note tab enter ##f.

That's for use with the Datebook in Palm Desktop app

Can you please clarify a couple things. I'm confused. Are you using the standard "Calendar" app that comes with Treo 650. Or Datebk4/5 3rd party app.

You wrote "On the handheld in the appointment details screen for type select "Float"", where are you seeing a "Float" selection? I can find that anywhere.

Thanks

i'm using the standard datebook app from Palm that came with my 600. actually with palm desktop 4.1.0. The app is called CALENDAR by PalmOne and the version is 5.2.H

so the procedure is like this. if i want to create a floating appt on my PC in datebook, once i record the appt, i type ##f in the notes section.

if i create on the handheld, if i click the details for the appt, right near the bottom is TYPE. I can choose APPT, FLOAT, DONE.

Thanks DJD,

I'm pulling my hair out because on my Calander app, there is no TYPE in the details section.

I'm using Calendar v. 1.2.1 on a treo 650 with Verizon.

I've been trying to do floating appts for a few years so this is of great interest to me.

Would you mind taking a look at the attached picture. The 3 screens are
1> from the calendar, click on NEW
2> clicked on a time and hit OK
3> clicked on NOTES

I don't see anywhere that has a TYPE field to select appt, float, done.

Do these screen shots look like yours?

Thanks

as i said i have calendar 5.2H, it came with the treo 650, what version of palm desktop are you using. maybe an upgrade will do the trick.

when i create an appointment, there is a button on the bottom of the datebook called "NEW". once i click that a menu appears: appointment, float, to do, daily journal, template.

we definitely have different versions. if i can manage to get the prc from my handheld, i'll send it to you.

in the meantime, try typing ##f as a note for the event using palm desktop and see if that floats the event.
