I've used the Mapoplis software. Overall, it was good and I only got lost once (which was my fault). The only downside I see to GPS on the Treo 600 is the lack of a hi-res screen. When using the GPS on the 600, I found myself relying on the voice commands. I used my SD card and loaded specific maps as necessary. I enjoyed the portability of the GPS system. In my last position, I did a fare amount of travelling. I was able to use the GPS to guide me to restaurants and more. Normally, I probably wouldn't have gone through the hassle of driving far from my hotel in the fear of getting lost.
The one time I did get lost was a "pilot error". I simply entered Route 94 while in Chicago and it gave me mulitple choices. In retrospect, I probably chose Route 94 in a faraway town and sure enough...it took me there. When all else fails, I called my brother in-law and he's was able to get me back on track. The one odd thing about GPS systems in general is the reliance you feel towards the technology. It feels kinda of robotic to make turns based upon a voice coming from your Treo. Turn left, .5 miles.
