Question help! computer crashed!

hello treo people. i need some help regarding this incident. my computer crashed, thereby deleting the programs including the palm desktop which had my saved preferences, etc. Now the problem is, i don't have the installation cd anymore. so here are my questions:

1. will the installation cd of a 650 work for my 600?
2. if ever i get a cd for the 600, would doing a sync restore the program (meaning get all my phone settings in there), or will it do the opposite and overwrite my phone (meaning make it blank) because the program itself doesn't have anything yet?

i hope i wasn't too confusing. thanks soooo much for your help!!

I'm not sure about the CD question, but I know for a fact that when you're back up and running you should definitely select the option handheld overwrites desktop so that your info from your phone remains dominant.
Meanwhile, you should (if you haven't already) invest in a good backup to sd card program!

hmm... okay, but where is that option to make my phone the dominant "overwriter"? is it in the phone or in the program?

It's done through the hotsync application on your desktop. Right click on the hotsync logo on the botton right tray of your pc and select "Custom"
