    Default Hot Sync Not Working

I couldn't seem to find any help from the messages posted in the forum. My problem is that the hot sync is not working at all. recently when i began a sync, the dialog box with the user name would appear then instead of remaining on screen, it would close and the sync would not complete. today, the dialog box does not come up at all and the sync ends with the message that the connection between the handheld and desk top could not be established blah blah blah.

I checked and rechecked and all looks fine, I even reinstalled the desktop software and still the same problem.

I've tried soft resets on the handheld and reboots on the pc.

I'm leery about a hard reset on the handheld since that will leave me with only the information on the pc with no backup on the handheld.

    any thoughts?

Here's the related Palm knowledgebase article, but I'm afraid that doesn't offer much insight. Here are a list of possible troubleshooting tips that might be helpful.

    Thanks Chris,

After all that it turned out to be the cable. Now I'm back in business.
