Default hot synch problems with Outlook

I can't seem to hot synch with outlook on my Thinkpad laptop. The treo says it can't establish a connection between the treo and computer. I've reinstalled the software and still no luck.

It may have something to do with device drivers, but I'm not sure

    any suggestions

Do you use any other USB devices with your laptop to know for sure that it should work? If not, then you might need to enable the USB ports in the BIOS.

Right-click the hotsync icon in the system tray and make sure that "Local USB" is checked. Under Setup -> Local tab, you could try a different COM port. If you have multiple USB ports on your laptop, then try connecting to a different one. I've run into issues where different ports on my docking station for my Dell laptop don't always work for a hotsync.

Thanks. I use a wireless keyboard and mouse and ipod so the USB ports are working.

I also tried to change the Port and had no luck.

If you can think of anything else let me know.

Can you sync to any other computer? It's possible that the cable is bad. You could try a Bluetooth hotsync (if your laptop has Bluetooth), but I've read about people have mixed success with that option.

    Alex:

You are a good man for trying this hard on some stranger's problem. I did try it on another computer and the hot synch worked.

I guess I'll have to breakdown and spend some $$ to fix this.

    Thanks for all your help.

Try to use Softick Card Export and see if your Treo can connect to your laptop in any capacity. This will give you an idea of whether its the palm software or actual hardware issues.

At least you've been able to rule out the Treo and the USB cable. Maybe something is screwed up with the Treo USB driver.

Also make sure you have the latest version of Palm Desktop installed.

    Default thank you all

I cleaned out the USB registry, reloaded the updated palm and synch software, and voila, it worked.

Thanks to everyone, it was a good experience using the forum.
