System Tools or Repair Is it dead???

I have a Treo 600 - 7 months old. Bought it on Ebay via Dyscern ... it was a refurb. The screen did start to burn with yellow splotches, apparently kinda typical. However, on Tuesday night - I was using the phone, sending messages - went to plug it in for the nightly charge and it all went black. Nothing. Won't turn on. Could this be as simple as needing a new battery? I really don't wanna pay $40 and find out that wasn't the problem.
Guess my "great" deal really wasn't!
Thanks for any advice / comments....

Hmmmm... try a hard reset or any reset to get it going?

You might try doing a zero out reset. It's a bit tricky to do but will wipe the device clean.

Have tried the hard reset, but it's just plain dead. I will try the zero out to see if that works. It's just weird that I was using it - the charge was at least 75% full, but when I plugged it into the charger, it went dead ... makes me think it's not the battery, but more like the whole unit fried

That's what it sounds like unfortunately. I was going to recommend plugging into your USB HotSync cable, but if you were at 75%, it sounds like something worse.
