    Default Listening to music

I want to listen to music on my Treo, I'm not really interested in "hands free" phone calls though.

I tried getting an adapter/converter to go from the "smaller than usual" headphones socket on the Treo to a normal sized jack for the normal headphones. However, I got no sound comming out of it. Then we tried a headset that had the microphone built in for "hands free" phone calls, it worked fine but it only had one ear bud not two, and that's not very good for listening to music. The interesting thing is that the converter had two black stripes on it's jack and the headset had three, I'm guessing that it's two for left and right audio and one for microphone.

I notice that the Treo Store here has a stereo adapter for the Treo that can work with any pair of headphones, but it only has two stripes - now I'm confused. I need some advice on buying an adapter/converter, what exactly should I ask for? I really don't want to get one with teh built-in microphone for phone calls.

You only need an adapter if you want to connect standard stereo headphones to your Treo. The problem you experienced might have been caused by the adapter not fitting well with the Treo. Either the Palm or Seidio adapter should do what you want.

Thanks. But I don't think that I'll get either of them where I live, can I use a generic adapter, if so, what size should I ask for?

I believe you just need a generic stereo 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter. You just have to make sure that when it's plugged in that it sits completely flush with the Treo.
