Problem with Treo 600 I have a second hand Treo 600. Shortly after I got it I realized that the battery the battery died after one phone call. I used it as a PDA and not a phone for a while and it performed much better. However, the battery life soon became very short, I could hardly use it. I replaced the battery, it worked great both phone and PDA functions for a month (April 2006). The problem started when someone told me that they were hearing of noise on the line while talking to me, so I though may be an antenna problem. Then I couldn't even answer calls since the answer button the screen wasn't working, I simply couldn’t pickup – either by tapping on the screen or clicking the centre button. Then the battery charge suddenly disappearred and the phone shut down. I opened it, reseated the battery and charged it. As soon as I plugged it in the charge went to 40% (not a good sign), it took only 5 mins to charge (another not good sign). I launched one app and the charge again disappeared. I recharged it. The same thing happenned. I took it to a phone technician who opened it and did some simple tests, nothing seemed to be wrong, so we put in the old battery and charged it. It took it’s time and charged fully. I was able to make and receive calls – with no noise on the line. When I tried the “new” battery the same old problem was there charged in 5 mins and died after launching one app. I put the “old” battery and was able to use it as a PDA for a couple of weeks. I couldn’t use the phone component since that killed the battery really quick. But now I can’t use it at all. If I charge it, it will work for part of the of the day then either the battery dies suddenly (from 89% to 0% if I launch any apps or sometimes just won’t power up and must be recharged although I didn’t use it for anything), or it does a hard reset all by itself. Both batteries have been tested and were fine. The battery supplier suggested that it may be a motherboard problem. |
