My Treo 600 is having "hotsync" connection problems.
My Treo 600 is having "hotsync" connection problems. I had no problems during the beginning of use my Treo months back (I Installed the software, plug in the USB hotsync cable, press the "hotsync" button and it works), but now, neither the Treo or PC seem to recognize each other. The PC is asking for a driver for the Treo and the Treo just doesn't connect. The cables are in good condition and I've re-installed the Treo software CD but nothing works. What seems to be the problem? Any suggestions?

maybe try updating the drivers/software

maybe try updating the drivers/software
I agree. Perhaps, you've installed old software or you're missing an update. I'd suggest visiting the PalmOne Support Downloads page and download the latest and greatest from P1. You could also try using a different port -- different cable. Check out the drivers/software first and see if that resolves your issue.

Sunc problem on Treo 600
Hi, I'm having the same problem. 2 days ago, after working perfectly for ages, my Treo 600 stopped synchronizing with a "The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established." message.
Have tried reinstalling the CD Rom software, and also the latest version from Palm, both get to the point where the programme requests synchronization, but I still cannot synchronize.
I suspect that the initial problem may have been the cable as I was not getting any sort of window on the PC.
I have now bought a new cable, and the PC least now recognises a new device. It cannot however find the device required.
HELP!!!! (please)

The other thing to try is resetting you treo with the reset button in the back.
Whenever this happens to me, the steps I take are:
1. Reset the treo (maybe even try taking out the battery for a few seconds if #2 does not work)
2. Reboot the PC
3. Uninstall and reinstall the palm desktop and drivers.
(only occasionally, do I ever have to go to #3)

Hey Birddog (or should that be Muttley?), you're a star!!
Now works on my home PC, and I'm sure I can get it to work in the old salt mine.
Obvious really! Why didn't I think of that? D'oh!!!!!!(maybe they'll make a movie of me).
Thanks a bunch,
Degsy.

Sync problem continued
Hello again,
I am still having problems at work, having both reset the Treo 600 and rebooted the PC. Seems that Windows is unable to locate a suitable device driver for the Treo, even when I point it to the installation CD that came with the phone.
1. Is there somewhere that I can download the driver from, or does anyone know the name of the file that I should be looking for?
2. This is maybe because I have reinstalled the software. I have tried doing this again since the rest but to effect. Could there be something in the registry which is confusing the issue?
This is getting horribly frustrating.
Cheers,
Degsy.

Interesting timing.. Yesterday, after switching my conduit setting from a palm/palmDesktop sync to a palm/outlook sync -- I was able to sync several times with outlook, then I began to have the same problem as you -- nothing; the palm wasn't even recognized when I plugged it in.
After doing the steps above, I redid step no 3, but this time, completely uninstalling the palm software from my PC, doing a power-off/reboot and then reinstalling it. That worked for me.
Something I had done recently had really messed me up; I had recently been using new USB devices around the same time I decided to sync with outlook. Something broke.

Finally got my work PC syncing OK, after following your suggestion of complete deinstallation, etc., etc.. I think my problem was enhanced by the "roaming profiles" adopted at work, which reinstalled the software on re-boot, but I got there in the end.
Incidentally, it would apppear that the original cable was the source of the problem, as this still will not work, even after supplementay resets.
Thanks again,
Degsy.
