Default My Treo "doesn't know" it's charged.

Hi gang,
My name is Ron. I'm new to the forum. I just bought a Treo 600 from a third party, so I don't really have the support of my carrier. Everything is working well and the phone is in mint condition, except one thing.

When I charge the battery, the phone doesn't seem to recognize it's been charged. I take the adapter plug out and I can see the battery icon is full (it's all blue). But the red led stays on and the red lightning bolt stays on the battery icon too.

Every time I try to make or receive phone calls, the red led blinks on and off, each time it does so making this extremely irritating "ding-dong, dong-ding" sound.

Sometimes I can see the led trying to turn green for a millisecond, then it turns back red. The other day I kept playing around with it while showing my brother the phone. We were surfing the web, trying out the features, etc. When out of nowhere the phone led turned green and started blinking as it should.

I used it the rest of that day with no problem, until the batter icon was under half full. Then I put it on the charger. I woke this morning to the same problem. The battery icon is full blue, but the led is red and the little battery icon has a red lightning bolt idicating it's charging (even though it's disconnected). I've even seen the led stay solid green and the little lightning bold was green too.

Any idea what could be causing this, or how I can fix it? I love the phone and I'm hoping this is something simple, since I don't have the luxury of calling my carrier and saying "send me another one".

Thanks,

Ron

Try performing a soft reset while the charger is plugged into the Treo.

Hi Miller,

That didn't work. I've also tried hard resets, letting the battery completely drain before recharging, re-charging at onle half empty....nothing has worked so far.
Definitely some kind of software glitch, it seems.
During the charging process I can actually see the batery icon filling up over time. I know it's charged, the phone just keeps beeping, with the L.E.D and the charging lightning bolt flashing on and off each time.. It's very frustrating.

Dpesn't treo have any kind of site, or 800 number for support of these phones?

Thanks,
Ron

Hi Miller,

I've been searching and surfing the boards all weekend, so I found out about and tried the battery disconnect reset. No luck. I'll try Palm support, but I've heard bad things about them so far.

Thanks for the help.

Ron
