Ringer Question

I have a Treo 600.
The phone automatically goes on black screen/off mode after a short period of time.
When the phone is on this mode, the incoming call sound does not ring, so I am
missing calls.
When the phone screen is on, then the ringer works.
I have tried to find applications settings that may ba causing this but the sound
is at max & on phone.
Any suggestions please?

That is definitely not the normal operation. To you have a mp3 ringtone application installed? Do you have VolumeCare installed? What about Butler? I would expect that it has to do with some application that would have some interaction with an incoming call.

No, I have no extras on the phone. I am using it just as a basic phone.
No mp3's, no volume care, nothing....

I found a few discussions of this problem at Treocentral, but none pointed out a permanent solution. People were able to resolve the problem by performing a soft reset, but that might only be a temporary solution.
