it appears when i send mail to anyone. so even tho i have changed it in the preferences (several times) it still appears with the =20 I am using the general mail program that came with the Treo. (i really don't more than this)
While in mail, you should be doing the following. hit Menu. Use the 4 way directional to VIEW....EDIT ACCOUNTS...that is where you should be changing your name and email prefs.
I'm a new member and just found this thread. My email also comes up with the =20 notation the receipant sees as part the sender's name. I've checked my set-up and all is OK. I'm using the standard PalmOne Mail v.1.02a that came with my Treo 600 and I'm with AT&T. Has anyone figured out why this happens?
I think I may have your answer. Try using your ISP's SMTP settings. It's AT&T's wireless server. Apparently, =20 is the ASCII version of a space. Using your ISP's SMTP should solve the problem. Check it out and let us know..
Thank you! That worked! But what has me puzzled is that when I first tried to set up my email account, I was not able to connect. So I contacted AT&T Customer Service and they had me change the outgoing from smtp.registeredsite.com (my regular outgoing mail) to smpt.attwireless.net. I can’t remember if they had me change anything else, but it obviously wasn’t the outgoing server setting.
