Question pls help me with my treo600!!! Ü

hi, i just got a treo 600 a month ago and i'm trying to use it to its full potential. you thik you can help me with some inquiries? im getting the hang of it but i think i can do a lot better.

    1. is there a good and reliable and FREE site to get treo600 software? the price here in the philippines is too expensive and you gotta be a member of this pa1m store to avail of their software. i'm looking specifically for the programs like ringo pro and word-sheet-slide to-go.

    2. does a treo 600 have any advantage over a 650? some told me the 600 is faster in processing?

    3. is there a way to disable the chat thread feature in the messages? cuz i kinda prefer my messages to be individually sorted out and not in one thread.

    4. just wanna know what you think of the treo600 generally.. does it lack a lot considering it's a PDA phone or is it generally ok?

    thanks a lot!

The Palm Treo 600 runs on Palm OS, so it can run thousands of applications. Just do a Google search for freeware Palm and you'll find plenty of sites.

It's actually the opposite. The 650 has a faster processor.

Not sure about this...mine appear individually --

It's a great smartphone. While it lacks some of the features of the 650, it is very capable and I'm sure you'll be pleased with it. I used mine for about 1.5 years and was very happy with the upgrade (from the Treo 300)

Congratulations on your new Treo -- hope you find these forums helpful.

i know the hotsync can back up files, but does it back up everything, as in every thing? I just want to know if there's a way to back up my treo (in my computer) in a sense that if ever my phone crashes and i all data are deleted, I can simply get the data from my computer and put them all back and my phone would be the same as before it crashes. The messages, preferences, all those stuff. would there be a way to back them all up?

and this is just a side question. i got a trial for ringo pro, and it expires in seven days. if i install it again on the 6th day, will the 7 days "refresh" again?

Yes, if you go to HotSync Manger and check Backup. I believe it's checked already by default.

No, it knows that you've completed the trial.

One thing to keep in mind is that your card is not automatically backed up. May or may not be an issue for you depending on what you store on your card.

System Tools or Repair To mr. Chris

Mr. Chris, i took yor advice in searching the net for freeware but now i'm in the process of deleting several third-party apps i downloaded from mytreo.net because since i installed them, my treo's been resetting at random times. just today, it reset about 4-5 times in a span of 4 hours. I asked about the backing up thing because i plan to do a hard reset to bring it back to where it was before the installment. i even deleted the backup files in my computer for the 3rd-party apps i installed. I just left everything that was there before the whole downloading thing. about this resetting thing, you think i should just do a warm reset then see what happens or do the hard reset and just bring it back to before the installing? i installed the programs: mvoice (voice recorder) and movierec (video, since the 600 doesn't have one). what do you think?

Freeware is exactly that...freeware. I'm sure that some programs are VERY well written, but there are the exceptions that cause issues or conflicts. When adding software, it's best to take it "one program at a time". This way, if you find an offending program, you can delete it.

With the offending programs deleted, you should be fine.

I haven't used either. MVoice is definitely not freeware - you've probably installed a trial. Not sure about movierec - no experience using that program. I checked our Software Store and while there are only 7 reviews on mVoice, they all seem to be positive.

Take the slow and steady approach to installing software and you'll be rewarded with a stable Treo....and it will give you sufficient time to get the most from your software titles.
