Treo 600 headset jack

After about 9 months of use, the headset jack on my Treo 600 appears to work fine with the headset, but, when it is unplugged, the speaker operates intermittently (seldom). The speaker also only occasionaly works in the ring mode.
I use a Jabra headset most of the time, so I really don't know how long this problem has been occurring.
Although this phone was put in service as NEW in January 2007, as verified by T-Mobile, Palm 1 refuses any warranty!
Does anybody have any good suggestions?

1rst of all make sure the switch in the top of your phone is in the right way
[left direction towards the infra]
otherwise you will need a program that may solve these problem
like freedom

if you fail in all ways try to make reset to your phone
or call any nontechnical

Thanks for the input, BUT, I have already tried resets and reboot with no success!
I'm still hoping that 'somewhere out there' another Treo user will have some good suggestions.
